canelo would probably be favourite with the bookies based on the hype, a lot of people really seem to think he is something special cause he's cleaned out a division of no hopers in last couple of years. but if ward was anywhere near his best he would school canelo, probably make him look like a bum the same way mayweather did.

i would favor any 160-175 version of canelo over prime or current ward. ward is absolute garbage.

ward fights nothing like mayweather. he doesn't even have the boxing abilities of plant and saunders. ward is good at headbutts, elbows, holding, and low-blows. he's good at cheating to victory in his hometown. i wish we had gotten golovkin vs ward back then because we most likely wouldn't be having discussions about what an amazing fighter ward is. golovkin would have wrecked him.

Ward should return and fight Canelo if he has balls. He trained Plant and now is training Bivol. Neither of them has his skillset. And.. he is still just 37. The same age with May and Golovkin when they fought Canelo.
