    Q: Why didn't Manny wait?
    A: Bob Arum.

Cotto was pissed at Old Bob for taking Margarito's side. Miguel's contract was gonna expire and Cotto was gonna bounce. Arum arranged for Cotto's biggest payday against Pac to keep Miguel with Top Rank.

At least that's how I remember it.

Or, the reason Pacquiao didn't wait for Floyd is because the P4P King doesn't wait for anybody...

No one waits for Floyd, they know what he is like and thrives off it too much anyway.

IMO the Cotto Pac fight is more Bob Arum's instruction than anything else.

My reason for saying that is I don't know how quick Freddie Roach would be to choose Cotto for Pac.

The Cotto Pac fight looks like it's gonna be a great one anyway and I would rather watch Cotto than Floyd anyday. Floyds got great skills it just doesnt make for a classic fight IMO.

I think he wanted to stay active and he figured he will beat Cotto and Floyd will beat JMM so it sets up the story really nice.

because then he would be sidelined for months.. rather then do that he is fighting the best welterweight out there and his fight isn't that far off from Mayweathers. So Mayweather is going to have to wait for Manny, if he wants it to happen.. that's only IF Manny wins.

LOL @ accusing Manny of ducking anybody though. He's fighting the guy Mayweather was afraid to fight for a long time.

That's when you know thread starter is a nuthugger too.. the Mayweather vs. Marquez fight was postponed. Manny would have been out of the game for like 6 or so months if he would've waited.

It really doesn't matter because Manny will be willing to fight him next.

But why would Manny wait for Mayweather and then have Mayweather make demands of how much he should make? The fight wasn't guaranteed it would happen. If Manny comes victorious against Cotto he has the leverage of demanding to make more than Mayweather. Mayweather needs Manny and not the other way around.

P4P king wait on a fraudulent Floyd? Staying in active isnt smart. Also Manny dont need Floyd to define him. Floyd needs Manny to get his car back!

Everything has to be intacted and Marquez is the right opponent, it isn't gonna be easy though. So my opinion is, Mayweather wouldn't have faced Pacquiao even if the offer (At that time) was presented to him and rightfully so.
Actually, stylistically, Marquez is a harder opponent for Mayweather as opposed to Pacquiao...............if Marquez would be fighting at his weightclass.

Floyd is a pure boxer. Pure boxers have easier times with offensive fighters rather than other pure or good boxers. This is the reason Floyd had a problem with Judah. Judah had great speed, but it was effective because he was controlled good boxer. This is the reason Marquez had problems with Casamayor. Casamayor may have been old, but he was still GREAT at boxing. Intelligence and experience stays even if the reflexes don't.

The only reason Marquez will be easier than Pacquiao is because the physical disadvantages he will suffer against Floyd.
