This is what happena when you're not being managed and trained professionally. It's simple, when you workout your muscles produce waste, you need to drink a lot of water to clear that waste. If you don't clear it it will clogged your kidneys. You'll get bloaded and your urine will turn brown and will have to be hospitalized immediately. The treatment is just pumping you with salean to flush out your system and you better pray your kidneys push through it. Ultimately, you'll most likely end up with reduced kidney functionality and as an athlete I'm not sure what impacts that may have.Comment

The same day weigh in rule, needs to be re-introduced. If this is caused by weight draining, as other's have speculated.
Then this is more evidence that, the day before weigh in rule 'Dilutes the competition in the lower weight divisions, and creates a illusion'.

Same day weigh in was introduced directly because of things like this. Fighters would dehydrate too much, their brain effectively then rattles about in their skull so when they get hit blood vessels then tear causing haemorrhaging. Better they end up in hospital before a fight from cutting too much weight than dying in a fight due to being unable to rehydrate properly from a same day weigh in. Lesser of two evils. In my opinion people arguing for same day weigh ins don’t understand the historical reason it is the day before nor the sound medical reasons for it being this way. Read up on the Ray Mancini vs Duk Koo Kim fight for information. It will never go back so pointless suggesting it.Comment

Although i do completely agree something needs to be done to ensure fighters compete at a weight that is safe for them. However the reality is that fighters will always push these boundaries as far as they can in order to obtain a competitive advantage. Some will always push themselves too far / not listen to their body when doing so. Im not sure you can ever create rules that will completely avoid this - too much money to be had at the top level. How many times have we seen top fighters loose fights they should have won as they’ve got greedy, haven’t moved up and have struggled to make weight. However, since day before weigh ins the percentage of fighters suffering brain injury in the ring had dropped.Comment

Why are you making things up mate? You have just completely made up a section of history.
How come we never see stories of fighters from those era's, speaking of how they weight cut 10-25 pounds?
But all the evidence is out there during these modern times, across the whole landscape of combat sports. That weight draining is a big issues.
During the era of same day weigh rule, fighters were not weight draining themselves to the same extent as today 'That is a historic fact'.
You are making things up, you don't know the history of boxing on this subject. The evidence is stacked against your argument. It is up to yourself whether you want to make history up.
The Day before weigh in rule, was introduced for entertainment. It has not saved lives, or improved the condition of fighters. There is not a year that goes by, where fighters don't use making the weight as a excuse.
TeoFimo Lopez, Josh Taylor. Are fighters of late, who have used making the weight or weight draining as a excuse. For under performing, or getting beat etc
Do you think anymore fighters will join that list this year?
Also Liam Williams again was another fighter, who complained about making the weight vs Eubank Junior.

Whether fighters now cut more or less weight prior to fights is irrelevant to that discussion. And it was introduced shortly after the Mancini fight. Fact.
