No worries man, It's sad that people brand steroid users without understanding the circumstances involved with a lot of people taking them.

They should stay illegal within sports, though. I don't have troubles with a member of the public choosing to use them to enhance his or her workout and scale their body as they see fit. I don't, however, want to see it flooding into sports like boxing - the sport would turn into a joke like bodybuilding did.

Are you serious?? cos honestly Im sittin here thinking theres no way you can be serious.

Its not just about an unfair advantage, its the vast amount of potentially fatal physical and mental problems that prolonged use can cause, never mind the ethical and moral side of it!! It would be completely irresponsible! If steroids became legal you would have a bunch of mentally unstable hulks willing to literally take their health to the very limit just to win, the entire sport would become a freak show. You would have people overdosing and dropping dead all over the place, never mind the amount of mental breakdowns. Natural fitness, athletic ability and skill would become 2nd best. Fair enough, Ive listed some extreme consequences and I admit I dont know a lot about steroids, but the answer to your question is fairly obvious when you think about it.

The purpose of sport is to showcase natural ability. Would you let someone box with a robotic arm??

I personally would not take them but for health reasons and nothing else...
Health problems have a cost to society on the whole. You answered your own question up there.

It is true that doctors prescribe steroids everyday to patients all over the world. I do think that abuse of any substance will hurt you and that includes steroids.

I do see a future in which we will have no choice but to allow athletes to use steroids in moderation once scientists and doctors understand them more fully.

                    health concerns of course..
                    thats why its illegal.

also, if youre a pro athlete you are bound to the discipline/law of your sport.
fairness and sportsmanship. if that said discipline/law prohibits doping , the athlete must comply.

if every athlete can use steroids, major advantages will still be there, the effects of steroids vary from person to person, just because a person takes the same brand, same amount, same prescription..it doesnt mean it will have the same effect with you..
think of it as any medicine you take... some dont work but to others it does.
