Comments Thread For: Canelo On Golovkin Trilogy: Yeah It's Personal, He Talk A Lot of ****, Says A Lot Of Things

SAN DIEGO - There was a lengthy period where Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez never again wanted to hear any talk of a possible third fight with Gennadiy 'GGG' Golovkin.

As a GGG fan I can still admit that GGG's run after his Canelo rematch has been lackluster. But I still think he's a great fighter and if he's motivated against Canelo, I think he can do something big. I think back to Marquez' brutal KO over Pacquiao.

With GGG being 40+ its possible with inactivity and age he loses against Murata not likely but it's been a trend so far this year for the underdog to come on strong

“Alvarez showed minimal interest in ever again doing business with Golovkin (41-1-1, 36KOs) following their September 2018 rematch”

But now Canelo’s response is suddenly “they wanted a fight with Golovkin. So I said, ‘Why not? Everyone wants (me to) fight Golovkin, right?’”

I’m sure the change of heart 4 years later has nothing to do with Ggg being 40 now and barely having fought over the past few years. As usual, Canelo has chosen to not take a fight when it matters most or is at the peak interest of the fans, it’s when he feels there is the least risk associated with the opponent.

..not to mention that @168 Canelo will be 10 lbs heavier in the ring, so he should finally get a legit W - and GGG gets a big pile of money to add to his retirement fund. I hope Bivol ruins the pointless trilogy, but no way he can do that by decision.

                  I respect Canelo’s talent. Who doesn’t?

But I don’t care about either of these fights and won’t pay for them. These are boutique peepshows for the Canelo-horny. You could call them boxing’s equivalent of OnlyFans.

They hold less interest than some undercard matchups between prospects.

They might just keep on the lights at DAZN, so they aren’t meaningless. As long as they end up subsidizing interesting matchups like Wood-Conlan, what do I care?
