Couldn’t agree more, he’s getting out before someone who can box proves he ain’t that special. He got incredibly lucky to fight Wlad on probably his worst night in the ring of his career and Wilder, we all know Wilder was a straw champ with a single weapon in the armoury, Fury was only saying a few months ago he was going to have 5 more fights, now all of sudden he might have to fight AJ and he’s got nothing to prove.

Ignore him. He'll do what he'll do - and it won't have anything to do with what he's said.

Then, at the end of his career judge him on who he fought, who he dodged, how he behaved.Comment

Well, if he did retire after the Whyte fight, he's achieved a lot in terms of winning all the titles, from Wladimir to Wilder.
Of course, would like to see him against Usyk, even Joshua, although I don't think that much of the hype around AJ anymore.
It's just that a Fury-Joshua fight fight would make for a nice all British clash. Other than that, there's nothing much really in this poor era of heavyweights.Last edited by Liondw; 03-06-2022, 06:54 AM.Comment

If he retires after Whyte ppl will ask was he the best of his era and the answer will be PROBABLY. If he sticks around and fights Usyk and or Joshua and beats them then the answer to the question would be DEFINITELY.

Tyson Fury cannot claim to be the best of his generation if he retires after Whyte.
It is up to himself, as he has achieved a lot in his career. To himself he most likely has nothing to prove.
But to the boxing fans, and world media. There is a on going battle still commencing between fighters from his generation.
The battle to prove who is going to be the last man standing, and the best.
Joshua whether people like it or not, is still in the game. And there are other fighters still also fighting.
It is not definitively clear who is the best at this time. You cannot claim to be the best, if you have not beaten all contenders.
Things are becoming difficult for Tyson Fury, fights stylistically he would of won easier under Peter Fury 'Are now a mighty struggle'.
That is the evolution of the battle, ether he stays and fights until there is no more 'Or he gets out while he can, saving his unbeaten record'.
It is all up to himself, but deep down people know? That he has to fight Joshua & Usyk.

How about fighting a top ten fighter in his twenties or even a top 10 fighters who's not coming off a beating, fury is good but he has alot too prove in that ring, has potential but hasn't defended a belt against a contender or even fraught a top 10 oppenentComment

You can’t really be the best of any generation and not defend titles with big gaps of leaves of absence . He’s barely even fought a legit dangerous fight , Wilder really doesn’t cut it because he’s custom made for Fury , Whyte is his first real test imop since Furys return and his opponents have been abysmal outside Wallin who was a prospect so I can’t even give him full credit there either .

The Great Nash has been a massive Fury fan since he was domestic level, but no way can he retire after Whyte. At least another fight this year, and 4 more fights over the following 2 years, unification, the biggest fights, and that's at least. Way too soon, and more to do. The Usyk fight has to happen, assuming Usyk returns and beats Joshua.
Andre Ward ducked into an early retirement, and that's a negative against him and his resume, especially so soon after somehow avoiding his first loss when Kovalev beat him up, knocked him downs and gave him a lesson. Ward changed his tactics and went balls to the wall in the rematch, but then ducked Golovkin, Joshua, Froch rematch, Bellew, and Amir Khan. Shameful stuff. Nash.Comment
