Even if he didn't look good this fight would still never happen for the simple reason they will not put Conor anywhere near anybody that can even remotely punch.
Look at his oppositions records & K.O %

The only opponents likely for Benn are Devon Alexander, Robert Guerrero, maybe they'll dig Paulie out of retirement.
Completely shot fighters who can't punch.

All his opponents have like 13% K.O ratios, I think the highest being Granados with about 40% at the lowest possible level.

Kids packing glass as we seen in the Peynaud fight and that beard transplant won't help his cause selective matchmaking might prolong it though.

      Conor Benn sucks. Terrible hypejob

Brook had a £3m guarantee plus PPV upside and the fight reportedly done “Joshua type figures” so you’re talking close to a million buys minimum. So even if he’s on just 10% that’s another £2m.

There’s no way in hell Brook-Benn is worth anywhere near that and there’s even less chance Eddie would overpay the fighters to deliver “great value” for the fans.
Like I said in an earlier post this is a way to save face because they’ve been mentioning Brook in the past. But Brook looked a little too good against Khan so they’ll claim Brook is pricing himself out while they look for a softer touch. It’s the oldest trick in the book.

He also said on another channel that the Brook-Khan numbers were “poor” even though Adam Smith confirmed they exceeded atleast 500k.

He’s like the bitter ex hating on the happy couple.

Whilst I feel like he’s definitely improved as a fighter since Peynaud I agree with you.

I don’t see anything impressive about Benn, he’s a basic come forward fighter with limited skills. There’s no area where he’s impressive.

He needs to fight someone in the Top 10, David Avenesayan being the obvious choice but they clearly don’t want that fight.

Benn going as far as saying “I ain’t doing Warren any favours” what kind of ridiculous statement is that????

He is definitely improving but I think even that is largely down to matchmaking. For me the Granados fight really showed his limitations and that could have been interesting if Granados was a little more offensive.

I don't see why he doesn't fight Avenesyan - He's a solid enough fighter but nothing special (Euro level at best really) and if he losses I think he is young enough to rebuild and he could always go back and fight Josh Kelly or something but I guess Eddie is content on him fighting a string of opposition who competed at world level but never truly belonged there, that are now well past it and couldn't crack an egg to begin with while waiting some title to get vacated or something. Its actually not been going on as long as it feels but its still tiresome.
With Avenesyan it baffles me because its probably a winnable fight and one he'd get way too much credit for in victory or defeat. Even if he lost chances are he won't look worse than Josh Kelly did.

Even with Avenesyan I don't subscribe to him being world class. For me he's a higher end Euro level operator which is fair enough all we're asking for for now.
I think Benn has just blatantly ducked him so hard its gotten to a stage where Avenesyan will be a bit overrated going into it and Benn is improving.

I don't see what he has to lose.
I think most would favour Avenesyan and be quite kind to Benn if he lost. If he won I feel he would get way too much credit if anything.

                  100% agree.

David Avenesyan is an obvious fight to make, he’s in the Top 10 at 147 according to The Ring Magazine and it’s a winnable fight for him. Seems to me like a perfect fight to make for a up and coming contender like Benn.

Instead we get Chris Van Heerden. Who in their right mind wants to watch that? And then we get the likes of Eddie Hearn saying “Van Heerden fought Ennis in his last fight!!!” Yeah…..2 years ago.

Eddie Hearn really thinks he can insult peoples intelligence and no one will notice.

Yeah I rate Avanesyan but he’s European level for sure. His best wins have all come against Euro level guys or lower like Lejarraga, Kelly etc. And when he has stepped up he lost to Peterson and got stopped by Kavaliauskas who were/are both fringe top 10 guys at best.

The fact Benn and his team want no part of Avanesyan tells you exactly what level Benn really is…

It’s the perfect matchup to make. Gives him a legit top 10 win and legitimate accolade in the European title. It’s even a cheap fight to make too.
