Peter Fury is an underrated trainer. Personally i think he'd do a good job with AJ.
Look at trainers who have taken someone and improved them. Peter Fury for me, works with a limited number of people. Take his work, when he took over as Tyson Fury's trainer, Fury was no better than world top 20, many guys would have beating him then, but Peter really worked on a style for him, a skillset, a mindset, technique. When he and Tyson parted, he had taken Fury from around top 20, to number 1 in the world.
He has also done a very good job with Hughie, and I believe there is more to come. Also, since he took on Savannah, Marshall has a much more awkward style to deal with than she had, whilst, he still has her boxing in a way that unleashes her power as well. Peter makes people better, Boxercise Ben makes people worse. That's the difference between a real trainer, a real boxing mind, and a pseudo boxing intellectual, show-pony, attention-seeking, ****-hair prat, like Ben Davison. Nash out.Comment

Davison may not be a great trainer but I do think Taylor looked drained at the weigh in and in thefight he didn'tlook sharp. I think Catterall fought very well and styles make fights. Is Taylor really anything special? Combine all those things and, well...Comment

I mean, you don’t have to be that skilled when the other guy is looking for one punch (the punch most difficult to land vs the shoulder roll too, i.e the backhand). Taylor even buzzed Catterall with a right hook early but he barely threw the punch. It looked like it could’ve been an easy night if he’d just stop fighting like he was brain dead. But that’s why the trainer is there, for when the fighter goes into that tunnel vision.Last edited by SplitSecond; 03-01-2022, 08:49 AM.Comment
