Lummox? Hahaha! If Kirk Johnson didn’t tear his peck they would have fought & Vitali was fighting Cedric Boswell on the undercard. If they both won Vitali was next anyway. Lennox was 38 & already talking retirement after his Tyson cash out. Lennox wasn’t in great shape & still managed to get the W. lennox was arrogant & I’m pretty sure he underestimated Vitali or he wouldn’t have been ok with Vitali replacing Johnson on 2 weeks notice. Vitali was always in shape year round while Lennox wasn’t by that point in his career. Lennox was in great shape having a full camp under his belt while Vitali got 10 days to to prepare for the biggest title in sport having only prepared for an undercard fight. Big difference.

Lummox was the heaviest he had ever come in & Kirk Johnson was not a threat by that point so it showed when he stepped on the scale. He would not have fought Vitali on 10 days notice if he knew how tough Vitali really was. He figured since he quit against Byrd he totally disregarded Vitali as a threat. He figured he beat him into submission. Call it a duck if you want but TKO6 is the only result that actually happened. Vitali is no better ducking Haye because that is exactly what he did.

If he was his biggest threat, why did manny say he had nothing left to prove with JMM prior to Nevada allowing Floyd to extend his jail date?

The truth is because he couldn’t decisively defeat JMM he was scared to death to fight someone who was bigger, stronger, faster and a better boxer in Floyd. Why? Because Bob, his matchmakers and Manny himself knew he’d lose to Floyd.
