This delay was only an act there was no other fight except for an under the table deal to fight the Joshua vs Usyk winner that could pay him as much.
Whyte has done a high wire act for years against B grade guys. There is no point in getting flattened again by a Potvekin type because this type of pay day will be gone forever.

I actually favor Whyte here. It will be interesting to see which Fury shows up... the slick boxer Fury, or the new aggresive Kronk style Fury. Unfortunately for him, he is still pillow fisted as far as HW is concerned and well, he is not just going to run in and over-run Whyte... because that is exactly what Whyte loves. Just look at his Whyte-Wach fight... when both were on short notice. Was a close in fight the entire time.
I actually think Whyte will take the fight to Fury... kind of like Wallin, but actually better and more aggresive.
I also love the FU mind games Whyte is doing... knowing Whyte, he has been training the entire time. Knowing Fury, he has been on his ass getting fatter, snorting coke... So shorter training camp for Fury and he keeps on ballooning up.
All Whyte has to do is show up to the fight. They say he is not the star... GREAT, they can prove it.
This is truly a 50/50 fight with a 25% chance Fury pulls out last minute or gets popped for something.

But Whyte has fought some serious competition, and this moment is not to big for him. I find it very amusing that all the people who said Wilder was a fraud with zero defense and only moderate skills now say that Fury's trilogy with him proves how much better Fury is than anyone else in the division. Whyte is a legit fighter with the ability to capitalize on mistakes. He has power in both hands, and is willing to do the grunt work in the ring in the same way Fury does. There is zero reason to not give Whyte a serious chance in this unless you have a personal routing interest.
Fury should win. He is still larger and will use his heavier build to his advantage. If he can recover from Wilder's bombs, he should be able to recover from clean punches from Whyte. He has better (but not perfect) defense and has the power to hurt with a single punch. No HW in this generation is even close to Fury in being able to control the ring except for Usyk. Fury somehow manages to have real good stamina for a man his size, it is incredible. But a ****y, out of shape, overconfident Fury would be ripe for an upset against someone like Whyte who has good body work, patience, nice power, big fight experience and absolutely zero to lose with everything to gain.

Fury's height will do much to nullify Whyte's left hook. I'd expect Fury to keep behind his jab so that Whyte's body work can't drag his chin into range. The hook won't work if it's aimed upwards.mrgreenfingers likes this.

Fury's sparring partners for this fight would beat Whyte, let alone the GK himself. This fight is a mismatch, and all the casuals claiming that it's a 50/50 fight will quickly change their tune and call Whyte a bum after Fury dispatches him with ease.Shadoww702 likes this.
