GGG really did have his spirit taken.

The guy was predicted to KO Canelo quickly in that first fight. Instead he couldn’t even drop him and got a draw. Canelo ended up being way tougher than GGG, GGG fans and the media thought. That left a lot of people sour that Canelo could take GGG’s best punches and not even buckle.

You all had to really cling on the fact that these two very good fighters fought 24 good rounds and they were basically 50-50. Can’t admit it but that’s what their fights were. They really were 50-50, they couldn’t hurt eachother, they couldn’t dominate. Instead of admitting this, let’s call it a robbery.

This guy went from having threads that he is better than Hagler, Monzon, Hopkins, Jones and could destroy Ward, Kessler, Froch at 168, to having two close fights with a former welterweight. It doesn’t fit the narrative the fans and media made up.

GGG was a very good fighter, but a former welterweight with little amateur experience was just as good as him when they fought. Truth hurts. The 400 amateur fights Canelo was missing, and the inexperience at MW, didn’t matter. He still matched GGG. Lil Canelo matched the big bad wolf of 160 and some fans can’t admit that.

All those “TKO6” predictions looked ****** as hell afterward. No one was predicting any type of stoppage for GGG for the rematch. They knew better than to look ****** again.

You are way downplaying Canelo in an effort to make GGG look bad. Canelo was what, 18? when he last fought at Welterweight? They're both Hall of Famers and 2 of the 5 best fighters of last decade and the majority of which GGG spent in his 30's.

When was Canelo supposed to face this “prime” GGG?

1) that fight was only delayed for 1 year... and the delay happened because Mr "anyone from 154-168" refused to be a man of his word

2) Bullshltkin could have taken that fight whenever he wanted... but he refused THREE opportunities, all three negotiations died over weight

3) when that fight got made... EVERY Golovkin fan insisted that he would win

I don’t know, maybe around the time that he beat Cotto considering ggg was the mandatory for that belt and had to step aside to allow Cotto vs Canelo to happen. Perhaps he could’ve fought him instead of khan, Liam smith and Chavez jr. And not handed over his belt instead of facing his mandatory ggg.

Exactly. Revisionist try to pretend that GGG was an old man up against it when he was the hyped up undefeated betting favorite with many predicting he'd KO Canelo. Instead it turned out to be a competitive fight with Canelo taking his best shots and firing hard shots of his own, but team GGG complained and insisted on a Mexican style fight for the rematch with credit to the aggressor, so Canelo went in there and did what many people thought was impossible at the time by turning the tables on GGG and beating him at his own game.

Again, going in many people believed GGG would take Canelo out and it would springboard him to superstardom but instead it was Canelo who springbroaded off GGG and solidified his #1p4p status by continuing to take risks GGG never would whereas GGG has fallen off the map from his handpicking (because he's never been as ambitious when he's in the A side position)

31-32 is post or on the downside of physical prime.

I agree it’s unlikely he gets performs physically better than 27-28. But with his intelligence and devotion to the sport, his experience allows him to perform better. Think Ward, Floyd etc
