You know i was just thinking about it, it would be pretty irrelevant if Taylor were prime against Norris or Espana anyway because he would still of lost both times imo.

Espana might not have a been a great fighter but he had a great engine, long arms and and good power. I had him winning the fight with Quartey untill Quartey caught up to him. Taylor did not know what to do in that fight with Espana, he fought from long range he was getting nailed with big punches he went inside and to stay close to Espana and he was getting nailed and he did not have the power to keep Espana off him.

Same story with Norris, Norris told him not to pitty patter before the fight because he would walk straight through him and thats what he did.

I remember he wouldn't fight Verno Phillips to unify.

Yeah, Espana would be a tough matchup for Taylor regardless of him having declined.

Another reason why I think that Chavez beating or not, Taylor would have a short stay at the top of the sport. Too much talent at 147, and the short and stocky Taylor had problems making 140.

          Yeah agree.

TS can you recall who was at 147 around that time.

Simon Brown, Whitaker, Espana, McGirt, with guys like Trinidad and Quartey on the rise.

Taylor might've beat McGirt again, but I think the guy who McGirt beat for the WW title, Brown, would've been real dangerous for Taylor.

Unless Team Taylor plays it safe, I don't see Taylor being at the top for that long. And Espana was a mandatory, not a voluntary defense.

I wonder why Terry didn't want to challenge for the title at 160. He has only fought once for a meaningless title and lost, it was his next to last fight.

He lost to Dana Rosenblatt in that fight btw, a fine fighter.

He was on the small side for a junior middleweight (remember the Taylor fight), so it was probably a good decision to not fight @ 160, especially considering his vulnerable chin.

                      Thanks TS.

Hell Yeah, McGirt beat Brown because he was too smart and lets not forget because he could ****. Taylor would need more than his quick flurries to keep Brown at bay.

Quartey and Tito would of run right through him like wet paper.

Whitaker fight would of been interesting to see because of Taylor's hand speed and punch output. Id still pick Whitaker though i think.
