Is 32yr old Manny Pacquiao cherrypicking a 40yr old Marquez then getting brutally knocked out the worst cherrypick gone wrong in boxing history?

I didn't see May taking a backward step. Pushed back, yes.
Pac was about to celebrate a slip as a knockdown
Couldn't break Shot Rios' will
Pillow puncher Bradley broke him down

I seem to recall that the 3rd fight was notable for the fact that Marquez devised a new strategy-if you can call it that. He made sure that most of the time when preparing to plant a blow, he kept stepping on Pacuiao's forward foot, and as you can see-if you taker the trouble to look, pinning him there, and even when Pacquiao would move his foot back, Marquez made sure to to keep HIs foor in the same place and both feet travelled towards Pacquiao together. A sort of "foot dance".
.It was very noticeable, Actually, in a way, funny, the kind of think often seen in movies of old Variety Shows. even to a casual spectator. . The ref should have been hanged from the rafters-or at least, had new eyeballs inserted..
The 4th fight was notable, because fo the KO, which was a "Hail Mary" shot. Marquez had been taking a real battering, was on the way out, and Pacquiao went on to finish him. Marquez swung that lethal punch, his head was around Pacquiao's waist and he didn't even see the punch land. It was only a wek or two AFTERWARDS that the Marquez team thought up the gimmick that they had practice for that very punch. Closed eyes and swinging...LOOK AT THE VIDEO..
That guy should have bought a lottery ticket the same day, he was so lucky..
BUT, in the close 1st fight the judge who had thr 113-113 card, admitted later that he'd made an error in scoring 10-7 instead of 10-6 for that 1st round 3 KDs Pacquiao scored. In fact , if you look at the WIKI of Marquez' record you'll see that it had him down for that 1st fight as a LOSS....!!
By the way, at that 4th fight Marquez (suspected of using steroids from his bulked up muscles and other indications) was 39 and Pacquiao was 34, Marquez thus being 5 years older.. It was about a year after the 3rd fight, and could be in NO way, a "cherry-pick". They were very evenly matched in each fight with Pacquiao having just a little better results. .Those who say differently are Pacquiao haters. Facts are FACTS.
No use to argue with me, the evidence is on the 2 videos . Go look at THEM...!!Last edited by edgarg; 03-07-2022, 04:29 AM.Comment

NO you didn't know that the age gap was so big...and you were RIGHT. Pacquiao was just nearly 34, born in 1978,and Marquez was 39 born in 1973. The guy who says the other thing is a liar. and he know it because the truth is in print, and I'm sure he's read it.damn i didnt know their age gap was that much. Yeah knocking out the top guy a 32 year old at 40 as a welter weight that is damn impressive.
also i know people get weird about ped talk and like to think nobody is on peds when 95% of fighters are on peds, but this is the real indicator here is that so many fighters can be at the elite level from mid 30s to early 40s. That was unheard of in the 90s, 80s ect. you remember how shot guys like SRL, ALi were in their mid 30s?Last edited by edgarg; 03-07-2022, 02:38 AM.Comment

If the ref had counted 10 SECONDS he's have been KOd. But he counted slowly. Not as bad as the ref in Tyson-Douglas, but slow.Comment

Yes really priceless. He wanted 1.5 mill, turned career top purse of $750,000, thern couldn;'t get any kind of a decent fight for about 2 years.. He fought Salido, then Polo 9 months later and , then a long gap of nearly a year before he took that Chris John fight for $32.000.
Steve Kim of Maxboxing, was home to Indonesia on vacation to see his family, and attended the fight, and also scored it. He agreed with the US boxing journalist Scott something who covered the fight, that Marquez was "badly beaten". John was far too slick, and carried a punch.
Marquez-as usual- said he was robbed... He was always "robbed"....A miserable guy like all accountants.

I recall one Mayflower fight when Larry Merchant brought attention to people getting up and leaving the arena. He said that Mayweather was the only top fighter who can bore people to death and into leaving the scene. He got the camera to follow a number of celebrities, top athletes and actors who were walkng out.
I think it was the Baldomir fight.Comment

Like elbows to the throat....andyou mean "that the REF would never see?:.
Thats his style and had a lot to with frail hands and it is extremely had to pull off against the competition that he beat, as a LW he had the same KO ratio as Manny JMM etc and was blowing guys out.
What you call boring says to me you don't understand the boxing ability he had, he did things so subtle and precise most ordinary fans would never see.Comment
