The one fight I have the biggest issue with is the trilogy with GGG. Foook that. GGG has done absolutely nothing to deserve that.
I don’t think bivol is a soft touch and I also think Benavidez is better than any of those belt holders canelo fought at 168 so far. So again, any valid reason to not take the fight?

Dude is literally the biggest payday offer available, will likely do the best #s on ppv due to the Mexican vs Mexican American angle on a Mexican holiday weekend, and is the biggest threat in the division where Canelo is undisputed and holds a belt that Benavidez never lost. And now he’s doing the opposite of what you all accuse other guys of doing which is chasing the payday. He’s willing to sacrifice a large portion of his own purse. Why not take the fight?
Bivol is a much greater threat. High IQ vs high IQ. All skills, and Bivol is the bigger man.

He’s going to destroy Benavidez mid section with thumping body shots all day for a UD victory. We all know this.

so your logic is that he shouldn’t fight Benavidez because Benavidez is easy work and it’s a forgone conclusion how it’d turn out? Because most people who know boxing feel Benavidez is a tougher challenge than anyone canelo faced at 168 so far. Unlike bivol or these other guys Canelo fought recently, he’d actually try to hurt canelo. He won’t be a sitting duck like smith, a quitter like Saunders/Yidilgrim or try to chat it up and make friends with him mid fight like plant.

When your the top dog and fund fighters retirement accounts you get called out by multiple guys after every fight.
Benevidez is nothing special. He’d be open to counters to the body all night. Canelo would fold his ass.
Why would Canelo care what Haymon pays him? As long as he comes correct to the cash cow a fight can be made. Man has options.

It's abundantly clear that Team Canelo wants no parts of David Benavidez because it's a fight that he could very well lose and they know it. So I guess we boxing fans are reduced and stuck to watching his typical low risk.high reward Bum of the Month club until he grows a proper set of balls.

There’s a very solid reason not to take the fight… if Benavides didn’t lose his belt TWICE he would’ve fought Canelo when he was sweeping the division. Who’s really at fault?

yeah that’s not a valid excuse. Also, you’re assuming that canelo would’ve fought him if he still had his belt. Canelo didn’t make his unification plans known until after Benavidez got stripped. That’s when he decided to petition for the vacant title. You may see that as a coincidence, but many don’t. Yeah Benavidez messed up but hasn’t canelo failed a vada test before? Hasn’t canelo struggled with weight and had a contracted weight changed right before the fight to accommodate his weight struggles. Let’s not be hypocritical here and only see it as an issue for Benavidez but not acknowledge canelo has made very similar mistakes.
