He's not a hype job. Nobody is hyping him. He's just popular as he has a sizeable fanbase and is a humble likeable guy. That doesn't translate into hype.

I see he is sparring a bit with Fury. And noticed he's picking up some of his stylistic traits. But he's very raw and likeable so best of luck with him. He should start with English title level, have fun with it, and see where it takes him. As long as he enjoys it while it lasts and is entertaining, best of luck to the guy.

He's raw and its early days. He'll only learn from that fight. A good trade fight. It might not last long, but if he's dedicated, he should enjoy it while it lasts.

He is, and I like the lad, but for me the problem is going to be, in his mind, this will continue, the crowd stays with him as he goes through the levels, bigger and bigger nights, loads of money, and titles. He has these ambitions, trust me. And as he is having these amazing nights (for an early career fighter) with amazing backing (better than many champions, the lesser known one) but he is allowed to fight very poor opposition, and he is not making life-changing money, I bet he's barely making a working wage.

He can't help but dream massive and expect big things because of the hype around him with the fanbase, fan noise, and ticket sales he does. But this is all centred mostly around the fact he is a powerful and unbeaten HW. If the 0 goes at low/mid domestic level, which I believe it will, the whole thing evaporates overnight. If it goes at world level, that's totally different, but quite a step to world level from where he is now.

I just think that he's probably being made to feel like a world-beater. The expectations are there now with him because of it. This isn't a guy quietly going about his business trying to win a local/domestic title, then leave boxing with his achievement. This is a guy boxing well and truly in the public eye. It makes it totally different. Jonny Fisher sees massive money and world titles in his future. If he falls slightly short, he'll be fine, accept, and get by. But if he falls over the hurdle against some no-mark journeyman, then all interest is lost, that will hit the dude hard after all the build up, cause almost everyone will desert him overnight. It's very much the English mentality - on to the next. And he'll leave the sport having made next to nothing. Nash out.

Hes obviously got a ceiling, and its not that high. But hes a fun undercard attraction a la Babic, Dave Allen, Ebanie Bridges etc. Its all good.

Johnny Fisher vs Kingsley Ibeh would be fun!

He's horribly raw but I remember seeing Benn and thinking the same thing and his improvement was amazing (I'm still waiting for him to top out). Maybe he just gets stuck at a low level but not everyone can be world champion.

Allen and Babic all make their money (though he's not even that level yet)

To be fair to Fisher, he seems to be just thinking about domestic success at the moment, and that seems reasonable to me. I'm not saying he'll even achieve that, but it's a realistic goal to set. Hearn says maybe an away day next. Not sure what he has in mind for that, but he recognizes the pressure on Fisher's shoulders and hopefully will have him box somewhere less accessible to the majority of his fanbase. The guy seems popular. He can't help that. He's not gonna stop selling tickets just to have less pressure on himself. He'll just have to learn to deal with it. He seems humble enough, and if the matchmaking is good hopefully he won't slip up in any silly fights. Good luck to him.

Tbf, I don't think any of the people paying for tickets think he's the next Tyson. They just support their own - win or lose - as long as he comes to fight.

Having said that, he did look very basic and has some work to do, because his career looks like it might be short.

I don't think that's true. Dave Allen had fans and he was never good a lost a lot.

I doubt his fans think he's a ATG in the making.
