Comments Thread For: Conor Benn's Next Foe Being Finalized, Hooker Injured in Camp

Hopefully Hooker's injury is minor and he can still take the fight. Van Heerden just doesn't really offer anything other than some rounds (and even that's questionable at this point). I get the Broner angle (noteworthy name that is a shell of himself) but it doesn't move the needle either.
I could see someone like Lipinets getting the call. He probably shopworn enough not to be too much of a threat. Ivan Golub is another one. Nice record but against limited opposition and probably not much of a threat either.
Here's one for left field though: Blair "The Flair" Cobbs. Nice matchup of unbeaten fighters, neither of whom really had much amateur background.Comment

McKinson has a fight scheduled with Ortiz ?? he's also got a horrible style to watch.
Marku is a level below Benn and signed with Boxxer from Matchroom so obviously doesn't want a Benn fight.
Avanesyan left Matchroom to sign with Frank Warren, you don't do that if you want a Benn fight. Avanesyan would be a good fight but he's always found a way of not getting the big fights, he was supposed to be fighting Ortiz.
Essuman is another Frank Warren fighter and I've no interest in that one, nor has anyone else I suspect.
Of the list Avanesyan would be the best to watch but you have to ask if Frank has all that money for Avanesyan why doesn't he make a Crawford fight ? Crawfords is available for a price that's the level Avanesyan should be at on his career. Benn should be beneath Avanesyan on paper.
I'm not fussed about him competing at the world class level yet, he's still green when you consider combined amateur and pro experience. But not thrilled about these names Hearn's been throwing out. He could have a decent domestic scrap instead of consistently being put in with over the hill opponents. It's not doing Benn any favours having Hearn hold him back from pressure fights against game opponents that he needs to perform well against to win.
Put him in with a Marku, Essuman, McKinson or AvanesyanComment

According to boxrec Van Heerden is the second best fight on Boots Ennis record (ignoring the ND) so he must be good right?Comment

Let's not forget that Prank Warren supposedly made a big offer to Matchroom for the Benn fight. When in reality it was, Matchroom and Dazn can have the show and Warren would pay Avanesyans purse. So not really a big offer. How does Benn make more money out of that than any other fight. More nonsense from Warren, just trying to make Benn and Hearn look bad. But now who looks bad, as Avanesyan is fighting Oskari Metz, the Finnish De la Hoya.McKinson has a fight scheduled with Ortiz ?? he's also got a horrible style to watch.

CVH has a good chin. He's only been stopoed once by Spence and that wasnt until the 8th. So thats probably why he was chosen for Ennis, who hasn't been past 6. So for Benn with his more limited experience, it's a decent match up if he gets the rounds out of it. And if it's another ko, then there's a bit of a statement there. It doesn't say he's a world beater, but it lets people know he's coming.Comment
