I don't think Bivol will stop Canelo but he can probably outbox him the same way Kovalev was... unlike Kovalev however, Bivol can take a shot and then fights back even harder.
I was being facetious. Bivol and Usyk strike me as sportsmen and not killers. I have yet to see Bivol actually go in for the kill. Usyk only KO's people who talk trash like Huck and Bellew. I agree with you though. I think Bivol vs Canelo would be a chess match and I think Bivol would win. Wether or not the judges would see it like that is an entirely different story.
I still rather watch Canelo fighting a strong "paper champ" at 175 than a middleweight who struggled with Montiel.
I don't like Canelo bouncing back and forth from 175 to 168! I don't think that's healthy for him! He should fight 2 consecutive fights @ 175 (Bivol, Beterbiev), or 2 consecutive fights @ 168 (Charlo, Benavidez, or David Morrell Jr.).
I want to see Canelo vs. GGG 3 for some closure, man! Lol. I love GGG but he's had a lackluster run after his loss to Canelo in 2018. I want to see the dude prove that he's great. Canelo's at the top of his game right now while GGG is on the decline. His last fight was against a mediocre opponent (granted it was a mandatory) and his last competitive bout came against a game Derevyanchenko. Granted, Derevyanchenko could be his kryptonite such as Marquez was for Pacquiao. But regardless, GGG hasn't looked all too great since his defeat to Canelo. I would be excited to see him move up and that excitement would only be amplified if he beats Ryota in thrilling fashion. He'd have to score a knockout to turn some heads again in my opinion. And if he does fight Canelo, I look at it like Pacquiao vs. Marquez 4. GGG would more than likely need to get a knockout.
Canelo deciding which $50 million plus offer he wants to go with while Bud Crawford’s been told by two major promoters they will lose money on him.
Levels to this game.
So your solution to him fighting "bums" at 168 is to suggest he fight two other guys who have never fought at 168? Come on. He fought the guys at 168 who had the belts. Is Benavidez better than them? Maybe. But he didn't have a belt at the time.
I wouldn't mind seeing him fight GGG again, Charlo or Benavidez. But I think matchups vs any of the 175 lb champs are all good fights.
Alvarez is being matched up against handpicked opponents with no real power. Those are easy fights; no real challenges; they pose no threats. Everyone knew he would dismantle Saunders and Plant, and he did just that - they have no power, but the excuse was, he was unifying titles. It's time Canelo steps into the ring with boxers with power that have long been calling him out - and this include "the smaller middleweights". Real challenges for Canelo are fighters that can box with power.
