One of the greatest boxing stories ever! https://narratively.com/the-astonish...air-the-flair/
I don't know how far Blair will go, especially in such a crowded division but I'm pulling for him, what a story!Comment

And its not being claimed otherwise. That's why their taking their time. That's what people need to but can't understand. It's not rocket science. So many people on here don't understand progression. At this stage in his career Connor Benn is basically a prospect.
Nowhere near a contender.
His best win is Algieri who was basically retired and paid to lose as a 'name' on his record.
I don't know what potential Benn has TBH, but he is not even on Broners level right now.Comment

I agree. But Dulorme was down x3 against Abregu, x3 against Crawford, x2 against Ugas and once against Jessie Vargas. So the same could be said there about him, and yet Ennis got lavish praise. Ennis is a fantastic talent and Benn is clearly behind him at this point. But Algieri was appropriate to Benns level at the time and he performed well with evident improvement and adjustments, and yet he gets lavish criticism. Where's the balance of fairness? I'm not directing that at you by the way, but generally speaking that's the vibe on this forum.Comment

mainly Cus no one wanted that fight in the first place, the fight which is commented on every one of Conor’s Insta or Twitter posts is the Avanesyan fight, which he/his team are clearly **** scared to take

No what he's saying is that Algeri got demolished by those guys while he was still fresh in his 20s. If prime Paq or a young up and coming Spence would have fought a battered and bruised 37 yr old Algeri they would have killed him in one round!Comment

Actually it was said one or two more fights before being ready for the level of Avanesyan. And it wasn't said that after that, they would go for it. Only that they'd be in a position to consider it. Obviously it's been considered and they don't want to go that way. What is hard for people to understand about that and why can't people accept it. You mention Ennis and Ortiz. If Avanesyan is so special why are they not being pressured into fighting him? Where is the same energy there? And it was said before the Algieri fight. So by my count that's one fight since it was said, not 2 or 3.Conor is a likeable kid outside and inside the ring, and nobody can deny the improvements he’s made from his first 5 fights lets say.
But when he talks like this it’s hard to respect him. He won’t fight a Thurman, Spence or Ugas. They’d have to be near 40 years old before he steps in with those guys.
A while ago He and his team told everybody “One more fight and the Avanesyan fight and others will be next”. I believe he’s had 2 or 3 fights since, and no Avanesyan. Now Benn thinks that fight is doing a favour for Frank Warren so “why should he”. Yeah I know boneheaded statement to make!
It’s painfully obvious what’s going on here. Benn is being steered away from all live challengers that are around his age. He will keep being fed these so called “household” names that are washed up, inactive or semi retired. They’ll continue to milk the Benn name and Hope to the high heavens some kind of Vacant belt falls onto their lap, even a “WBA Regular” will do the trick.
Benn will then proceed to milk said belt and continue to avoid all tough challengers and champions. Boots and Ortiz Jr will have to suffer shocking KO losses before Benn is ever allowed in a ring with them.
That’s two guys he can’t “age out”. So I’d argue that It is “conning the public” to an extent. Particularly when you promise Paying fans that after this flop of a fight they’ve paid to go see the bigger one is coming. Or in they’re case the “Avanesyan fight is one fight away”. All to ensure people keep tolerating washed up fighter after another “Challenging Benn.”Comment
