1/ Keep multipliers for all the reasons expounded. Keeps interest in the game, attracts casuals, keeps gaming interest. But..... only on underdogs. Can still be x2, x3 and x5. I think the numbers are right for 80/100 fights. If only on underdogs then x3 and x5 on bigger dogs and x2 on closer dogs.

2/ the 20/10/10 is weighted wrong. East to pick Garcia this past weekend (although some didn't) but not so easy to pick the method and even less easy to pick the time (ko) / ease (decision). I'd like to see perfect picks rewarded more (that's to my detriment). The fact that judges and referees can screw up picks is just part of the territory and also the interest truth be told. I think maybe even additional points for correct on UD, SD and MD?

3/ There's been discussion about attracting casuals and retaining casual interest. Causes or drop out cited as being Blaster-like fast starts discouraging laggards (where is their resilience?) and late starters feeling they are too far behind. I would propose shorter competition. July and August are mostly dead months. Why not 2 competitions - January to June and Sept-December or August -December? This would mean those who want to start in April only need wait until August. Those who are far behind don't have to wait 6/7 months and potentially never come back. Thoughts? This also allows the pickem crew a midsummer break as well.

4/ When we have very high favourites another option is to just change the points system a little. For example above -300 favorite no points for a winner. Only points awarded , say 10 points for method, and 20 for perfect pick

5/ would love to see bonus points for winning pick streaks - that encourages the more casual players to keep participating every week. Can also be a small amount of ponts just for picking every week - but both of these create a lot of extra work for the pickem crew.

6/ Theo - would that I could help a bit more but right now i'm kind of working 2 jobs plus single dad duties so my time is taken up quite a bit - mostly NSB is a way for me to unwind and follow boxing a bit more than just at a casual level. I'll never be a hardcore fan - I'm an in-betweener. But i'll support where possible.
    1) I can dig the multipliers for the underdogs. I know i initially proposed no multipliers at all, but they do add intrigue.

    2) I agree that picking the method and time should carry more weight, but not more than picking the winner.

    3) Here's where I begin to disagree. It's a contest! Laggards, late starters and those who just pick wrong... In the words of Flava Flav- "I can't do nothin' fo' ya, man! That's the way the ball bounces, G!"

    4) Because this is boxing and upsets happen, I think points should always be given for winning picks, regardless of the odds.

    5) As for winning streaks, that is reflected in the score. I don't think there is a need for bonus points for them, as it may give someone too much of an advantage and put them further out of reach.

Very valid points my friend! I always enjoy the people that come in a few years late and try to change the game.

Yeah it must be annoying as hell

but you seemed to miss - "btw - i'm not being presumptuous that any of this will happen next year or any year - i'm just putting ideas out there."

Thing is, I'm a tinkerer and I'll always give my input. There's not a man-made thing on earth that can't be improved - even the Playboy Mansion in it's heyday.

        But, I'll ease off anyway.

Not sure if something's got lost in translation or whether you're actually finding the discussion a bit tiresome NC but just to clarify, right from the start - well at least since the CREW took over from BroBob - we've made a point of inviting community input and ideas and not shied away from incorporating new ideas into subsequent seasons if they seem like they might benefit the game and gain a reasonable level of support from the player base. Like you Steve I'm a big believer that everything can be improved... or even in the case of the Pick Em simply tailored to better fit the style or preferences of the current player base. Obviously this is just preliminary discussion but based on the experience of previous years it's probably best getting the ball rolling relatively early. Besides in general any changes made for the 2023 season will be incremental... most likley try out one of two of the most popular changes or go partway towards some of the ideas rather than anything too radical... if it works and meets player approval we can maybe go a bit further the following year.

Anyways that's me... I'm deliberately taking a back seat this month even though I'm back home for a bit of a pitstop right now - all this hippie stuff and camping can be pretty tiring (although accidentally parking up opposite the bus full of half naked yoga chicks definitely was a result - rarely have I had better views for my early morning coffee. Ms K gave up telling me to stop ogling after the first day.)

LMFAO - nice one Koba and Tata - had a smile on my face reading Koba's post and imagining the scene - and lucky I had nothing in my mouth when I read your post or there'd be a mess everywhere.

I can see some posters might be thinking lets just enjoy the current competition but I can imagine trying to get input in late December is not gonna work out that well. Anyway, I put out my ideas so I'm done for a while.
Back home for a pit stop - Ms K has lost her enthusiasm for camping for a while lol.

T, I respectfully disagree. Winner being picked should always hold the largest points margin, imho.

No miscommunication. Just dealing with Lymphoma and irritable af. Get tired of the broken records. I helped Bob from the beginning. Thread is up for the weekend. Maybe we take it private next time, BOSS
