  • Comments Thread For: Arum Receives Backlash for Women's Boxing Comments; Jake Paul Answers Back, Calls Him 'Dinosaur'

Bob Arum is in hot water - again. Weeks after his former client Terence Crawford filed a lawsuit against him, citing breach of contract and racial discrimination, the founder of Top Rank Inc. stoked the flames of the buzz-o-sphere by asserting in an interview last weekend that consumers do not "particularly pay attention" to women's boxing.

Is he actually lying though? I have a share of female fighters that I don't mind watching at all but nobody really watches it like that.

He’s not exactly lying. I think the sad part is that Bob is in top two leading boxing promotional companies, when he starts down talking women’s boxing, it can only cause it further harm.

Boxing Writers and especially promoters need to realise their power with fans, so when they trash talk a certain fighter or a gender in this case, it creates sheep that just regurgitate what they hear.

They did it to Rigo, turned any newcomers to boxing off him, they’d read one article and minds made up before seeing his ability.

Time to start using their platforms for the better of boxing.

Bob is only at same stage of life most our grandparents or parents for some of us get to, they stop giving a F*#! About peoples feelings and stop treading on egg shells. So I take his odd rants with a pinch of salt.

Bob Arum is entitled to his own opinion. At least he's not pretending to be on some virtuous woke campaign. This virtue signalling is being used to engineer society and censor anybody speaking outside of predetermined parameters. Censorship is being ushered in under the guise of protecting people's feelings. I'm an adult man, not a domesticated pet and can take care of, and think for myself

Haha, he might as well have said this with his female boxer client in the room.

This, more than anything, will harm Terence Crawford's case against old man Bob.

When Crawford's legal team persist with the argument that Arum undermined his marketability specifically because of discrimination, Arum's team will respond with "OBJECTION, on the grounds that he's a miserable **** with all of his clients"

This is hilarious. Its called 'virtue signalling' for a reason, and that's because it describes merely signalling virtues not the presence of actual virtues, or engineering of society.

In short, virtue signalling is used to stop actual societal change by mimicking real change, not representing it.

If Arum did pretend to like women's boxing, or pretend to give a **** about women full stop, or any other social justice causes like a lot of corporate bodies and political institutions pretend to do, it wouldn't make any difference to society because pretending to give a **** isn't actually doing ****.
