Comments Thread For: Jesse Rodriguez Replaces Sor Rungvisai (Illness) In Vacant WBC Title Fight Versus Carlos Cuadras

Jesse 'Bam' Rodriguez's quest to step up in class will include a considerable leap in weight. BoxingScene.com has confirmed that San Antonio's Rodriguez will step in as a late replacement to face Carlos Cuadras for the vacant WBC junior bantamweight titlist this Saturday on DAZN from Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The 22-year-old southpaw accepted the fight on short notice after former lineal and two-time WBC titlist Srisaket Sor Rungvisai was forced to withdraw due to non-Covid related illness.

With Estrada and Rungvisai both out with illness, I wonder if their rubber match can happen.

I also wonder if Rungvisai is truly ill, or if he pulled out because Chocolatito-Estrada was cancelled, so he wouldn't be getting ordered to fight the winner.

This replacement is intriguing, I'm not even mad. Credit to the young-guns from Flyweight for stepping up and saving these shows : what luck to find quality world-class opposition Julio Cesar Martinez and now Jesse 'Bam' Rodriquez.

Rungvisai wants the Estrada rematch. The WBC/Estrada had to pull the "Franchise" crap to avoid him. I thought Cuadras looked shot the last time I saw him. Rungvisai was going to win easily (IMO). Maybe you're right that we get Estrada vs Rungvisai next.

What happens to Fernando Diaz now? This Kid sacraficed so much just to get the news that his fight is scratched. I really hope Eddie Hearn keeps him on the card.

Yes! Higher weights should follow suit with all these good matchups and replacements.

                  Rooting for Bam

Was looking forward to SSR and Cuadras settle the unfinished business of their abbreviated fight. I like Bam Rodriguez though and credit to him for going up in weight to try and seize an opportunity. I have a feeling it will be a good scrap.
