Now you all know why Canelo wants Makabu. Makabu is trash!

Hey, that'd be great. But you know how people in the US are about Russian fighters; they almost boycott them for whatever reason. You've got the low men on the totem pole, which is first fighters from Africa (who always get screwed and is disgusting), then right above them and tied are fighters from Russia (the old Soviet Block) and Cuban's (anti-communism spilling over into the sport). Then right above them are boxers from South America. Look at Conceciao.
So my point is that there's not a lot of public interest outside hardcore boxing fans, and Arum said as much. Although, part of me is a little skeptical because Bivol is with Matchroom, and that's like the kiss of death for a fight happening. Bob is much more likely to work with Haymon than he is with Eddie. So there's that too.
I'd love to see that fight.Comment

Abel thought the fight was a draw, not that Canelo won. RJJ had it a draw. Spence didn't say anything other than he thought GGG should have fought more "Mexican style." Whatever that means. He also said that he would have beat Canelo if it were him. So I think he doesn't know WTF he's talking about.Comment

They are weight classes for a reason. Most great fighters loose when they go up in weight. They no longer hit home runs at that weight class so they really have to show their skills off.
If Canelo doesn't fight Makabu it is duck, if he don't fight Benavides its a duck and if he does't fight Charlo it is duck even if he is fighting one of those named fighters. Once he beats them then it was a cherry pick or they were no good.
Benavides is his own worst enemy. He lost his title due to drugs and failing at the scales, he has no one to blame but himself. It is not like he is fighting top fighters to make a case of himself.Comment

IMO I thought GGG won both fights with the second one a lot closer that it could had gone either way. But it doesn't mean that Canelo didn't improve and nobody was able to hang with GGG the way Canelo did.

That's true. I think people assume I think Canelo is not a good boxer. That's definitely not true. But I also believe he's using PEDs to make himself even better than he already is. And after viewing both fights, and over the years, I have come to the conclusion that GGG fought better in the second fight than he did in the first.
The problem with the first fight is that Byrd's outrageous scorecard made it seem like a robbery. It was a robbery in that regard, but the second fight was an even better performance by Golovkin. Golovkin began using lateral movement and actually boxing in the second fight, and he actually hurt Canelo at least once if not twice. Over the years, I think people will see that Golovkin did even better in the second fight.Comment
