How many prime, all time greats did Floyd beat
Collapse

Since Hagler Hearns and Leonard Duran, there have only been 2 ATGs Floyd and Manny and probably the next one will be Canelo, and Floyd beat both while he was over the age of 36.
All the BS talk of prime is a joke, Floyd was prime at the lighter weights so he beat the best of his time when he was out of prime just like many of them were.
Mayweather proved to be the best of his generation there is no argument only crying.Comment

Whether certain fans choose to acknowledge it doesn't make it any less true or rational. Fans and detractors get into these pissing tests with no real intent in good faith dialogue.Comment

It's pretty clear that almost every top fighter has built their resume, 90 or so percent of it, on how they do vs other solid fighters. Very few guys face more than 1 or 2 or maybe 3 other greats in their primes at their best weight.Comment

Unless there's an obscene amount of money to be made, it is too easy to take a path of least resistance or greater prolonged success for moderate pay against lesser opposition.Comment

Absolutely! We are far removed from the time where matching the best versus the best was viable for all involved. Boxing isn't as mainstream as it used to be so the public pressure isn't enough to make many of the fights. I mean, it literally took 6 years to make the May - Pac fight and they were by far the biggest names in the sport.

3 fights vs Norton, 3 vs Frazier, Foreman, 2 vs Liston. And probably 5 or 6 more. To me no one took on the fights that Ali did, and for that reason I still call him the greatest, by a decent margin.Comment

Yep that were at the end of their careers and they were not ATGs.

Of the 2, PW would have been the tougher fight. A caveman like Margarito beating anyone significant is a fable written by Arum and spread by his cronies.
PW, while having size advantages, was too aggressive for his own good. Slow and uncoordinated AF Margarito was able to land at will. To imagine May doing any worse than Margarito is silly. May and Sergio are about the same size (May vs Sergio would have been awesome) and Sergio handled PW.
People like to say triangle theories don't work.
Which can be true. At the same time, fight fans need to follow the dots -
May didn't fight Margarito, but did fight DLH, Maidana 2x, Cotto, Mosley, Nelo and Pac. Kept his 0.
I don't give a single FCK about triangle theories.
Margarito would have been another easy W where haters would have said ''May was supposed to beat him.''Comment

Yep, and all of it, for me, is why I say Ali was the greatest. His record was mixed vs top guys, but for me he fought (way) more great fighters than anyone else in history I can recall.

He was the best of a very deep generation. MFers think just because he didn't fight a couple of guys (mostly Paul W and Margarito), that he would have lost or he ducked them

Its the way losers think, there is always an excuse, always an advantage, always a corrupt official, always a crippled opponent, always something other than just being too good on the night.Comment

What else are they going to say, Floyd beat everyone and retired undefeated, so they have no losses to dog him with so they create them.

''If #3ATG can get beaten and slept multiple times by lesser fighters, so should May !''
This is why I say the only person May could beat that would shut the haters up is beating SRL.
Since that can't possibly happen, long live the hateComment
