Why is there no uniform Boxing ring size?

Why does it change by feet depending on the fight? Imagine an NFL field or NBA court changing dimensions based on what the teams prefer?

    That seems armature.

MLB stadiums are all different too.

    Styles make fights.

Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder requires a bigger space than a women's atomweight bout.

because boxing is one of the most, if not the most, unorganized sports in the world. Rules vary from state to state and country to country.

Use your imagination and think about how an athletic commission or Promoter can sway it to tailor the “house fighter’s Style”. Crazy isn’t it.
I think it should be universal from buckle to buckle, 4 ways, 20’ exactly. That would be fair, except for those that move so much

And you do know that not all heavyweight fights take place in the bigger rings. Don't act like it's uniform based on weight class that I could respect at least but it doesn't work that way.

That IS how it works, but only for the top fight on the card. The A side of the biggest fight is generally going to get the type of ring they want and everyone else is going to have to deal with that.

Usually depends on the venue. Small venues aren't going to have a massive ring.

Because there are boxers who want combat (smaller ring) and there are pussssy ass boxers who want to run around and play tag (massive ring size).

There’s no league that oversees the sport so each event has things like ring size, glove size etc.. that are negotiated.
The A side fighter usually gets the say. If your a counter puncher like Canelo or Mayweather you want a bigger ring to move without getting caught on the ropes. If your a power puncher like a GGG or Wilder you will push for a smaller ring so you can stay in close range and pressure the other guy.

I prefer 16x16 for Heavyweights and 22x22 for Flyweights!

but in all seriousness, it depends on the classes on the card. 18x18 or 20x20 should be a medium if card had Super Fly, SMW and HW. Promoters IDEALLY would want to showcase or represent its roster on each card possible, but sometimes it could be limited to similar classes for many reasons. As far as cost from a small or big ring wouldn’t be a problem
