When Wilder wanted to jump right back at Fury for a rubber match, after being pretty beat up in fight #2, I thought he was nuts. I figued he must be making career defining decisions based on emotion alone, which seldom works out great. But, he proved me wrong. He didn't win of course, but he improved tremendously over his showing in their 2nd fight, he came within a few seconds of knocking Fury out and evening their score; and he produced another all-time classic within their trilogy, and all of this served to reboot Wilder's stock among the fickle fanbase. Now he finds himself ready as ever to regain a title. So.......If Joshua's going to take a fortune to step aside and set his pride on ice for a little while and carefully rebuild his brand, I think that would be SMART. When Wilder won the legal challenge to have his shot at redemption it scuttled title unification. If Joshua excercises his right to do the same, it scuttles unification yet again. It's his right to jump right back at Usyk. But we provide the same advice to Joshua that we gave to Wilder. Maybe you should dust yourself off before racing back in. For Wilder, though he lost his gamble it turned out well for him. For for Joshua the conditions are different. Going 0-2-1 against the real, linear champion of the word scoring 4 clean knockdowns in the process is a UNIVERSE away from dropping two one sided technique contests to a Cruiserweight who hasn't been impressive at the weight until he beat....Joshua. That, to me at least (and I profess to know nothing) is an unnecessary risk, because I actually Believe in Anthony Joshua. I Beleive that he is on the same level with Fury and Wilder, as well as the other highest level heavyweights of the post Ali era (Foreman, Holmes, Spinks,Tyson, Holyfield, Bowe, Lewis, The Klitschko brothers...). And given this high regard for Joshua, I'd hate to see him, boxing's bigger draw, driven into early retirement by slipping on a banana peel named Usyk!!!! STEP ASIDE, REBUILD, LIVE TO FIGHT ANOTHER DAY....SAVE THE ROUND ROBBIN!!!!!!!!!Comment
