When is the fight taking place? Is Tyson Fury traveling back in time? Is Joe Louis traveling to the future and gaining access to all the sport science tools and information available?
If Tyson Fury was to fight Joe Louis back in the 1930's-40's, Fury would not be the same fighter he is today. He would not be 270 + pounds, and he would be unable to train like he does now 'From what I can see Fury these days, utilizes a lot of modern sport science'.
Only old school fighters like Bernard Hopkins, Floyd Mayweather, Joe Calzaghe, Carl Froch, Mike Tyson, Lennox Lewis and a lot of the fighters from the 90's & 80's could travel back in time and still be the same fighters 'Because predominately, their training routines and lifestyles are based around old school training methodologies'.
Note: This may be the last time, I comment on any of these mythical match up threads.

dream matches dont work that way stop using that quote of does any gain any access to anything or how a person cant fight the way they fought in their eraWhen is the fight taking place? we take them how they fought then and put them in vs how the person fought at his best or close to put fury in the way he fights from after he wasnt to good vs joe how he always fought fury runs through him simple as that
why you said all this instead of just saying the obvious truth is oddComment

Sounds like a more educated forum to me.
Joe's very efficient and Fury's very much not. So I say Joe.
Boxing doesn't evolve based on effectiveness. It literally never has and never will. Boxing evolved based on rules and that is a two lane highway. Louis is a bit ****ed by the 12 round limit and Fury's a bit ****ed by a 15 round limit. Both of these men are well ****ed by a limitless fight. Anyone who says otherwise speaks to large periods of time in boxing but doesn't actually know much history. Challenge me and see if I don't bury this idea in information. Boxing does not evolve based on effectiveness. We do not write rules based around who is beating up who and how to make that more fair, never did. Rules were made for sales and sales alone. Sales is what drives techniques and styles, not effectiveness.
Everyone knows the bare knuckle era featured no time limits, a wealth of KO boxing, and little in defense. Everyone knows today boxing, as a technique not a sport, goes hand-in-hand with the sport boxing, to the point we use the same ****ing word.
When did boxing defeat punching on such a large scale punchers started to take up boxing? Never is the answer.
What happened? Daniel The *** Mendoza made a ****load of money and "the fancy" or the money men of the early days recognized with some rule changes they could get a bigger audience, fighter's careers would last longer, and everyone would make more money.
So, yeah, not arguing that you're looking at the same techniques on displayed, you are not, but what you call evolution is a bit misnomer or at least misleading. We didn't get here by paying attention to the winners. We got here by watching wallets.
Which means Fury in a 15 rounder is just as ****ed as Louis in a 12, especially against a smaller man who is crazy energy efficient.
Finally though, Louis has way, way, more chin and plenty more power. Fury has yet to plaster anyone to the canvas. Knocking Wilder out onto his knees is cool and all. See how my man Rocky leaves a ****ing corpse behind? That is power son, unadulterated and pure. Old man Joe walked through a wealth of Marciano. I don't think Fury, even mauler learned how to throw a punch Fury, can actually hurt a prime Louis.Comment

There is no obvious truth, that is what you need to understand 'But I don't think you will'.
dream matches dont work that way stop using that quote of does any gain any access to anything or how a person cant fight the way they fought in their era

When a match up is announced a fighter has something called a training camp. Fights don't just happen in a instant. Have you noticed that mate? Have you noticed that match ups, don't just happen in the moment? You have press conferences, you have training camps, weigh in's and then the fight 'You have not noticed any of that then?' That is what is odd.
If people are going to match past and present fighters against each other. Then that is how the fights will also go. And people will have to decide on where and when these fights will take place?
Is Tyson Fury traveling back in time to the 1930's or 40's, or is Joe Louis traveling to the future?
What I am saying is not odd, it is how these match ups should be devised. Is Jesse Owen's is not going to race Usain Bolt, while his LANE on the track is cinder and mud 'But Usain Bolt's lane is a modern Mondo track? Is Jesse Owens going to be wearing heavy leather shoes, and living off food stamps? Is that a fair and balanced historical match up? Nothing is odd with what I am highlighting, I am merely just adding some deeper more sensible introspection.
Otherwise these threads, are completely pointless 'Nothing personal to the thread starter, all the best Golden Bull'. But I find these type of threads, and the responses completely banal.
And you will get the same themed responses over and over and over and over again. I find it odd that people continually respond to these threads with the same responses, that is what I find strange.
Maybe people I witnessing these thread for the very first time, so I will take that into consideration. But me personally, I have witnessed far too many of these threads 'I have read far too many, of the same themed responses over and over again. And I just have to be honest today, and put this down here.
This thread is most likely the last time, I will involve myself in such discussions. The only time from this point on wards, where I will involve myself in such a debate 'Is if the discussion are coming from multiple angles, if people are actually thinking about these match ups seriously'.
Again, this is nothing personal against the thread starter. All the best, and carry on.
Note: Another reason why I am reacting strongly to this thread today, is that I find people are quite disrespectful to past fighters. But at the same time, they can even be disrespectful of modern day fighters. If these match ups were thought about seriously, and devised in the manner which I highlight 'Only then would the discussions for me, be more interesting and just better overall'. Fights don't just happen in a instant, at no time in history have fights transpired like that etc.
