I kinda wish you didn't tell me it's only that price.

Guidry is another HW Don King finds & buys a top 15 ranking for so he can milk Bryan’s regular belt. No different than Joe Hipp as Bruce Seldon’s first defence, Kali Meehan for Brewster, Davarryl Williamson for Chris Byrd. King has always searched far & wide for his next HW champion he can bleed dry. I remember when he signed Stiverne & Kertson Manswell. Manswell was undefeated against limited opposition. He had that nice 20-0 to pit against Stiverne who would win 3 regional belts. Setting him up for his first of 2 eliminators with Ray Austin then Arreola.

I paid $56.01 Canadian for Ortiz/Martin. I used to pay $9.99 to watch the HW factory fighters on small shows. Oliver McCall, Andrei Fedosov, Fres Oquendo, Amir Mansour & Tye Fields. I also paid for Tye Fields/Michael Grant PPV. Don King’s card in China headlined by Golota vs Ray Austin & that fight ended in a first round injury for Golota… i have bought a lot of low budget PPVs… I even think I paid for a PPV pitting Juan Carlos Gomez vs 42 year old Oliver McCall in a WBC eliminator. That was one of the biggest joke eliminators to determine a mando for Vitali “The Ukrainian Cherry Picker” Klitschko. McCall beat Sinan Samil Sam the turkish punching bag. Gomez then beat McCall & Volodymyr Vyrchys in eliminators.

I am also guilty of getting the Ortiz/Martin PPV. The first fight and the main event made it well worth the price IMO. Back in the day I used to get some of those cheaper PPVs too, not all of them HW. I vaguely remember some with guys like Tapia and Paulie Ayala and then there were all the Kushner cards.

I loved all of those journeyman, club fighters and fringe contenders like Jeremy Williams, David Izon, Mo Harris, Derrick Jefferson, Ray Austin, etc. They always seemed to make exciting fights.

Throw back watching Don King alone. Defiantly worth 20 bucks !

All those guys were good to watch. Jeremy Williams was an espn regular. The Williams/Andre Pullette fight the all time worst ref job & after the fight 58 year old Scott LeDoux challenges George Foreman to a rematch of their 1976 fight…
