WBA Heavyweight Champion Trevor Bryan versus TBA on 3 weeks notice. "Slick" Nick Kisner going up against Johnnie Langston? Terrible.

Guidry (17-0-2), a 5'11", 260lb bundle of Cajun fury, has faced very limited opposition in his rise to contention. Should be a barnburner...
in October I saw De Mori at the WBA #9 & I laughed thinking it was Bryan’s next opponent. I wasn’t far off as Hrgovic & Hunter both tried to get him as an opponent & neither fight materialized. De Mori was replaced by Forrest & it was almost a disaster for Hunter.
De Mori since getting pasted by David Haye has gone 9-0. He beat Laszlo Toth 4 times & 3 different guys in a row with the first name Laszlo. You can’t make this stuff up. Yet he was the WBA #9. When Stiverne beat Arreola for the vacant WBC belt Mark De Mori who was with Don King was going to be Stiverne’s opponent in his first title defence. Wilder got the fight & i believe King got an option on Wilder after his win & Wilder made his first title defence against Molina who was a King fighter. King did the same with Haye when he served up Valuev. He got an option in Haye’s next 3 fights with the first being a King fighter in John Ruiz. Then he got a check from the Harrison & Klitschko fights.Last edited by joe strong; 01-09-2022, 12:48 PM.

Never underestimate Don King when he has a HW title. It is a secondary belt but it has value in the landscape. Who knows what he has planned
He has big influence with the WBA. 2008 3 of his fighters (All former world champions) were involved in eliminators so one of his guys was getting the belt. Valuev beat Ruiz for vacant belt.
The Klitschkos were trying to get Haye into the ring as Haye got their attention. Contract talks stalled then Haye pulled out of the fight. Apparently rematch clauses against both brothers. He had nothing until Don King who controlled the 4th belt the Kbros didn’t have stepped in. He offered Haye a WBA title shot against Valuev (who was retiring after one last fight) & secured options on Haye’s next 3 fights. He beat Valuev & had a huge bargaining chip to get a bigger slice against Kbros. King made sure Haye got to the 3rd cash out fight against the Klitschkos so Haye took 2 easy voluntaries against King fighter John Ruiz then Audley Harrison.
Don King made a lot of money for the WBA & he still has the Bryan angle to play. I wonder if he serves him up to Dubois what kind of envelop he will receive?Last edited by joe strong; 01-09-2022, 01:20 PM.REDEEMER likes this.

I’m not denying the King BS but we all may agree that FKR can certainly entertain me (probably you too)… Of course we want Fury vs Usyk, Spence /Crawford or Canelo / Beterbiev. But to a large degree King has figured out how to get our attention; even with ******, low end, tomato cans. If they swing & miss & slip & fall or trip & hit ring posts or punch low or head butt or just suck so bad it’s laughable, it can be entertaining. What we (I’ll spk for us all here) know is boring are mismatched, dead horses that don’t fight at all.
