Wladimir has to face Chambers, Povetkin, Haye/Valuev and has a low probability to fight Arreola (in case of upset n 26th of September)... With all respect to Toney (whom i consider an ATG boxer) if he wants to fight for a title he has to earn that position... Though they like to say that HW stinks, Klitschko has couple of good fights in his nearest future!
    Toney's ranked 9th in WBC???

Have you ever seen the Puritty fight? I know you havent because Wlad had not lost a round until the 10th. So to say "easy" you are clearly wrong.

Also, you might ask how an athlete such as Wlad could run out of gas. Good question. Wlad had fought 2 weeks before. Wlad was fighting his 4th fight in 75 days. Wlad was fighting his 12th fight in a year. He was exhausted from such a grueling training and fighting schedule. Purrity was a bum, but was a hard to KO bum. Big punchers couldnt ko him and Purrity was KO'ed once after 1990 and that was by Vitali in 2001. Klitschko hadn't prepared for him, just for boxing and his manager chose the wrong type of fighter. Should be noted Eddie Chambers couldnt KO a 40 year old Ross Puritty.

Try to educate yourself before posting. Wlad was mismanaged in the Puritty fight. Shouldn't have been in there. Guy has been knocked out once since 1990 and his trainer and manager should have prepped Wlad for a 12 round fight. Or scheduled it for 10 rounds...which if it was...Wlad would have won easily.
wlads good nothing great..vitali on the other hand is very good and maybe great cant wait to see him fight ..its taking for ever.. toney is fat old and i still wouldnt say wlad would defifnately beat him ..but the thing about toney is no other fighter could do what hes done, being that old ,that overweight and fight at heavyweight and win fights.

In his last fight he beat someone that he shouldn't even have been fighting, his opponent was so bad: and in his previous fight, against someone who isn't even in anyone's top 20, his opponent was robbed. Prior to that, he was outboxed by Peter.

You're being completely delusional asking for any title holder to throw their credibility in the bin by taking on an opponent who refuses to fight anyone with a pulse, and who hasn't looked good against a live opponent for several years.
On the contrary, the top 10 HW contenders would be looking to make a name for themselves trying to beat James Toney. The guy's an ATG and if any of the top boys in HW division wanna make some serious dollars and be legitimate contenders, then they got to see James. Which other HW going round has had more than 80 professional fights and achieved what James' achieved? None. Toney's never been stopped either.

Toney looked great against Rahman in their rematch and would have stopped Rahman in 4 or 5 if he didn't quit. Hate it when people say Toney was fighting well once Rahman got the cut. This is utter crap considering what Toney did to Littles when Toney had a way more severe cut than Rahman's. Toney knocked Littles out in the fourth badly. Rahman should have done the same and asked for one more round instead of crying to the doctor to save his ass from being stopped. Toney schooled Peter's ass in LA.

All the HW contenders see James as too much of a risk for too little reward. Plain and simple. The Klits are staying well away from Toney cos he'll ruin them both like he ruined Jason Robinson, Vassiliy Jirov, Iran Barkley....and the list goes on.

anybody who takes Toney has a legit heavyweight contender is an idiot. He has super middleweight power, and has no speed.

I have to agree that he looked slow and old. But the guy could probably make anyone look bad and any fight ugly if he decided on just surviving.

His style could give people lots of headaches. I would love to see him fight Arreola and do him in....Lefty

Wlad's nothing great except he's the unified champion, hasn't lost in years, has NEVER been outboxed, ever, and beats undefeated fighters knocking them out.

                  You are a moron.

I agree with you Wlad is technical and sound at what he does but still his style is very boring to most. He never fights on the inside he lays on all his opponents hold grabs and JABS JABS JABS JABS JABS.....Every now and then he throws a cross.....Maybe it is his opponenets not being able to force him out of his comfort zone. Either way I don't see any fights out there for him that I would want to watch except maybe Wlad vs David Haye....Not to his fault but the other fighters in the division just arent good enough I guess....Lefty
