Yeah it was. My thought would be hang em up after a decent cash grab fight before his kids watch him get hurt. Nobody can beat father time.

      Ortiz is still dangerous

      Style makes fight

Even when he's past 50, Ortiz can always make easy money beating up on mma bums on triller.
AJ has never ducked this BUM matchroom signed him with the intent of him fighting AJ for the vacant WBA he put on his two abysmal performances against Dave Allen and Malik Scott (exposure on sky for non English speaking fighter to the British casual audience) then pissed hot and got removed from the rankings, thankfully because we ultimately got the Wlad fight because of it.

The heavyweight pool is very wide & not at all deep. Aside from Fury & Usyk no-one is very good. Ortiz probably doesn't beat Whyte, Joyce, Wallin or Parker but he wouldn't be a wild outside bet for any of those. He would probably be my marginal favourite against Hrgovic, Joshua, Dubois or Helenius. We've seen him dust up Charles Martin & I have no doubt he can do the same to a dozen guys who are positioning themselves as contenders, the likes of Hughie Fury, Rice, Babic or the Turkish guy who beat Gerald Washington.
Then there are 2 wild cards.
1 I have no idea if Deontay will even fight on. If he does, no-one knows how much that brutal beating has taken out of him.
2 To me, Frank Sanchez is the best pure boxer at H/W but he is pure boxer & not, by any means, box office. I suspect his promoters will try to force him to be less smart & more aggressive. How will that play out?

These guys are not the same level. Hughie is a contender, Demirezen is a fringe contender, Rice is a good journeyman, Babic is a bum.

I think Ortiz already has agreed to fight Hrgovic, which should be a legit test for the Croat. If Ortiz can get past him then maybe a money fight with Ruiz or Parker while he waits for the IBF mandatory to come up.

Wouldn't Ortiz have the advantage over those two since they are both orthodox fighters? Coming from a south paw stance he would neutralize both of their jabs. Unless, they both have equalizing right hands like Deontay Wilder does then those fights could get very interesting. I am not making a prediction but those fights would be intriguing.

Come on now you don’t hate Usyk that much to making that statement .

Ortiz still has a legit chance to make good fights ,it depends with who though. A factor in the heavyweight division is unlikely both Ruiz and Hrgovic defeat him ,Ruiz is obviously an easier fight then the 6”6 giant .
