  • Well done Ortiz. It was quite a low level quality fight, and both guys look finished, but a bit of excitement they gave.

How many people do you think can be in a top 10?

      • I'd like to see Ortiz vs Helenius next. I would pick Helenius.

        • How about a Ortiz vs Sanchez fight?

          • Just as I suspected, a garbage card. Ortiz is old BASURA and Martin is MARTIN.

And that second shot that dropped Ortiz... People need to look at that punch slowly. That was not a flickering jab, it was a pole ax shot placed very well, showing that Martin is indeed a decent puncher, when he catches his mark.

Not saying that Ortiz' legs weren't sht. I mean he looked very Povatkin like with the socialist gait... you know like a fifth of Vodka had been polished off?

But lets not forget that many here thought Martin was legit as a real threat and that Ortiz was going to get bombed out...
Yes, that jab was short and laser guided. I think the first knockdown messed up Ortiz equilibrium, it was on the back of his head, after that he didn't seem right. Props to him for keeping going at it.

Seriously, this is what you are willing to settle for? I also have to ask do you really take the Alphabet organizations rankings seriously? With that said lets look back at Martin's career as a Heavyweight Champion. He beat Glaskov for a vacant belt in a fight that should have been ruled a no-contest because of an injury during the fight five years ago. Martin himself has never beat a legit top ten fighter before or since that fight. By the way Glaskov's claim to fame before fighting for that vacant belt was beating two past their prime cruiser champs in Adamek and Cunningham. He also hasn't fought since his leg was destroyed by a freak injury during the Martin fight. Now back to Martin. He wins the vacant belt and then gets blown out in 2 rounds by Joshua. With that said between the Joshua blowout and last night Martin has had six fights consisting of mostly unknown fighters. But, he did manage to squeeze in a unanimous decision loss to a bloated 263 pound Adam Kownacki. Who in my opinion is one of the most overrated fighters in the entire history of heavyweight boxing. I am even somewhat baffled by Boxrec having Martin ranked as high as 17th in the world and this is part of the sad joke the once proud sport of boxing has turned into. Here is also some food for thought. One of the alphabet organizations even had the great Mahmoud Charr as a heavyweight champion for I believe 3-1/2 years and he has never even won a title fight inside of a boxing ring. With all that said even when i don't believe it can get anymore bizarre along comes the Bridgeweight division. Wow, what a monumental moment it will be in the history of boxing when they crown the first champ in yet another ridiculous division.

                    • This was a good card of fights, a lot of fun and entertaining. Good fights ... guys went at it. $40 bucks well spent, given that a show on Vegas strip will be $80 to $250 for people posing as former stars and doing their music, lol.

The fights showed pretty dramatically that in the HW division, anything can happen. You have to fight the fights. Whether things go as you would have thought, or go drastically different ... with the HW's any punch or surge during a round can completely remake the landscape. Martin's family were happy and celebrating then suddenly everything changed after one trememndous punch. Great fights. (Martin fouht very well outside of getting caught. Strong, sharp, and dangerous).

All of these fights had elements of Foreman vs Lyle back in the day. These guys mostly went after each other. And I guarantee all of the keyboard experts on this forum trying to put down any of these guys would get nowhere near any of these warriors if they got angry towards them. LoLoL!

Thoroughly enjoyable card of fights ... Lames need to stop playing 'promoter wars' and trying to put down fights. Every CFB team is not Alabama or Ohio State, but there are lots of good teams, good matchups, and good games to appreciate.
