GGG is by far the better legacy fight for Canelo, simply because they have unfinished business. Officially they fought to a draw in the first fight, and Canelo won the second fight, but considering how close the fights were, they are essentially 1-1, with neither fighter doing enough to separate themselves from the other, in my opinion. Despite the trajectory of both guy's careers seemingly going in opposite directions, there still needs to be a rubber match for some closure as to who is the better fighter. At this point, I would favor Canelo, but I still want to see the fight. If Canelo truly wants to be considered an ATG, then he NEEDS to fight and CONVINCINGLY beat GGG a third time, otherwise history will look upon him as a really good fighter with an exciting style, who made a butt load of money, who just came up short in his biggest fights.

If the rubber match was gonna happen it shouldve happened immediately. If Canelo goes in and stops GGG critics will say he waited till GGG got old. I understand the competitive side of it and I for one wont consider GGG age a factor as much but you see what I'm saying. A convincing win can tarnish his legacy as well to some people.

huh? How is a 40 year old GGG a legacy fight? He beat Canelo years ago, this fight is just another manufactured legacy fight, which Canelo is becoming a master of and which his fan boys will swallow up.

How is it NOT a legacy fight? That 40 year old was more of a challenge to Canelo than ANYONE else in his career, (besides Floyd taking him to school), and for as good as Canelo is, he didn't CLEARLY beat GGG, despite his fanboys implying that Canelo destroyed him. Ironically the only current fighter that's attempting to manufacture his legacy is Canelo! Despite the curiosity and intrigue of seeing Canelo fight a much bigger cruiserweight, we all know that besides his size, he's a B or C class fighter, who's there to collect a paycheck while Canelo adds another meaningless title to his record. That would be all good and well IF Canelo had exhausted all options and didn't have any formidable challenges. But, he clearly DOES have many challenges from middleweight to light heavyweight, so maybe he will grow a pair, and take on one of these challenges and PROVE in the ring that he's an all time great. Until then, he's just a really good fighter that has a chance to be great, but would rather talk and cherry pick his legacy into existence, rather than dare to be great.

Well, of course it should have happened immediately, and GGG clearly has been trying to make it happen since round 12 of the second fight! And for everyone who says that he waited until he got old, are they lying? And just how in the hell could a convincing win (against a guy he struggled with) tarnish his legacy? Seems like despite GGG's age, he still poses a threat to Canelo, otherwise why not make easy money to go along with closing this chapter. Do you honestly think that beating a no name cruiserweight will either enhance his legacy, and/or earn him more money than a 3rd fight with GGG? I will answer for you: it won't.

Eddie Reynoso remember the day that Benavidez lost his title because of being a lb overweight was the day you decided Canelo will fight Callum Smith for the VACANT WBC TITLE. Eddie's ***** ass never mentioned Canelo fighting at 168 until David lost his strap. Makuba is beyond crude, has a very leaky defence, and only has one punch of consequences in his arsenal. Canelo is going to look like Manny Pacman against Makuba landing 3 and 4 punch combinations before he can even fire one punch back in retaliation. That's why team Canelo is looking at him as a possible opponent. It's the same reason Canelo didn't want to unify the 168lbs until Benavidez was stripped and he was able to fight Avni Yildrim for the WBC belt.

I don't think you know what a hater is. Being honest that word has been used out of context by a certain demographic here lately. You don't find it odd that absolutely nobody is giving Makabu a chance again Canelo? That not a challenge, that's orchestrated legacy bs.

If Nelo cleaned out 160 instead of garbage ass 168 then nobody would say a thing.

Canelo hasn't done what he's supposed to lol? He's gone above and beyond literally doing more than most of the fighters around him combined, and yet he's the guy you complain about because apparently he's supposed to fight everyone in boxing all at once while they fight stiffs on the sidelines instead of each other. There are people who subscribe to the mentality that if Canelo is doing it then it can't be impressive when any other fighter would get flattened trying to follow Canelo's rise from welterweight to light heavy, let alone cruiserweight-- even career light heavies think twice about that move up in weight.

And you're acting like he didn't already unify three belts vs the top guys at 160. The only remaining belt was weak link Andrade who's never faced or beaten a champ or former champ in his career, and undisputed wasn't on the table with Canelo losing the IBF as a result of his immediate mandatory Derev rejecting career high money. Charlo didn't want that fight when he was at 160-- even his own brother called him a punk over the situation and Haymon wasn't looking to send his fighters to DAZN. Matter of fact, Haymon had also twice rejected Canelo's offer to face Plant just to have him fight for peanuts on Fox instead when there was no guarantee that opportunity would come again. It took Canelo becoming a free agent and going to the PBC doorstep to get the fight done and now he's talking about Charlo who was the same guy haters said he was avoiding but now he's apparently a cherrypick overnight. But that's typical from people who've lost the plot with their contradictory and hypocritical hater narratives.

Team GGG already publicly declined the trilogy in early '20, ironically saying they wanted more time (to continue milking DAZN for easy paydays).

It's not a deep division anymore like it was several years ago, so that doesn't mean as much as it used to. And what would others gain from jumping up to fight him? Not everyone can magically move around divisions like Canelo can, and unlike Alvarez, they won't get paid like he will for a fight that won't really enhance their position. Now they're stuck in higher divisions, for a fight that really wouldn't have been worth it.
