Well, of course it should have happened immediately, and GGG clearly has been trying to make it happen since round 12 of the second fight! And for everyone who says that he waited until he got old, are they lying? And just how in the hell could a convincing win (against a guy he struggled with) tarnish his legacy? Seems like despite GGG's age, he still poses a threat to Canelo, otherwise why not make easy money to go along with closing this chapter. Do you honestly think that beating a no name cruiserweight will either enhance his legacy, and/or earn him more money than a 3rd fight with GGG? I will answer for you: it won't.SteelFist01 likes this.

All I'm saying is at the end of the day there are built in excuses no matter who wins the fight. I personally would prefer to see him in with Charlo or Benavidez. Even Beterbiev would be awesome. I'm not sure about a Bivol fight with Canelo though. His career has stalled the last few years IMO

How come they ALL waiting around for him???
Bivol vs. Biev. Should of already happened.
Plant/Saunders/Smith/Benavidez
Andrade,/GGG/Charlo
Come on man! Fair is fair.
That is blatantly false .He basically breached his contract with DAZN and sued to get out of his contract with Golden Boy because he refused to fight GGG again. Boxing fans and myself included; Just want to see him fight some competitive and live opponents for a change that's all..
I am just being real here. It's nothing personal. All eyes are on Canelo because he is held to a higher standard from all other boxers because he is regarded as the best P4P fighter in the world, the highest paid and the face of boxing.
No one cares about what those other fighters do because they are both unknown and irrelevant among the crossover mainstream and casual fan. Whatever career moves Canelo make reflects on the entire sport of boxing as a whole because by default he has become its ambassador.
In closing, all we boxing fans want from Canelo is to give us the fights that we want to see. All the great legends from Sugar Ray Leonard, Julio Cesar Chavez, Pernell 'Sweet Pea' Whitaker, Oscar De La Hoya and Manny Pacquiao did. All we want from Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez is to do the same.

That 40 year old was more of a challenge to Canelo than ANYONE else in his career, (besides Floyd taking him to school), and for as good as Canelo is, he didn't CLEARLY beat GGG, despite his fanboys implying that Canelo destroyed him. Ironically the only current fighter that's attempting to manufacture his legacy is Canelo! Despite the curiosity and intrigue of seeing Canelo fight a much bigger cruiserweight, we all know that besides his size, he's a B or C class fighter, who's there to collect a paycheck while Canelo adds another meaningless title to his record. That would be all good and well IF Canelo had exhausted all options and didn't have any formidable challenges. But, he clearly DOES have many challenges from middleweight to light heavyweight, so maybe he will grow a pair, and take on one of these challenges and PROVE in the ring that he's an all time great. Until then, he's just a really good fighter that has a chance to be great, but would rather talk and cherry pick his legacy into existence, rather than dare to be great.
Because he will be 40 years old and well past his prime so even beating him clearly will mean little unless your a drooling fan boy, that's before we even consider it will surely be at 168, a weight class GGG has never even fought at. A victory would mean close to nothing and barely anyone would be interested in seeing this fight instead of Charlo or Benavidez. Even if GGG is still formidable, he will still be way past his prime when you consider the factors I listed. Its just a name fight.

Not everyone can magically move around divisions like Canelo can, and unlike Alvarez, they won't get paid like he will for a fight that won't really enhance their position. Now they're stuck in higher divisions, for a fight that really wouldn't have been worth it.
I get it that he can pick and choose but its still a brave move.

Canelo is being allowed to cherry pick because once again boxing allows the money fighter to dictate terms and titles are now meaningless unless used to hype a fight. At least one of these sanctioning bodies needs to mandate Benavidez or strip Canelo of his title at 168, no more undisputed.

And if the biggest fights for them aren't even close to that weight class, there's no point in them adding on that many pounds, especially if there's risk of taking it back off, healthfully. Canelo gets paid whoever he fights and this fight is to "make history." Both of those won't be true for anyone else and only some guys would get paid anything close to being worth the jump.
Canelo is the cash cow, yet he's moving up 30 lbs against a big punching top 4 cruiserweight. It's a risky move. He could certainly pick safer options. Has to be admired in my opinion

What is a credible safer option? 'Top 4' means nothing in todays joke rankings especially in a weak division like CW. Makabu has had 1 fight in two years that was vs a journeyman. How can you admire CLEAR cherry picking? Its a sign on weakness yet the fan boys still try and dress it up.
