Makuba is beyond crude, has a very leaky defence, and only has one punch of consequences in his arsenal. Canelo is going to look like Manny Pacman against Makuba landing 3 and 4 punch combinations before he can even fire one punch back in retaliation. That's why team Canelo is looking at him as a possible opponent. It's the same reason Canelo didn't want to unify the 168lbs until Benavidez was stripped and he was able to fight Avni Yildrim for the WBC belt.

They know their audience, so long as a belt is on the line it doesn’t matter to them. He will never fight the biggest threat in any of his divisions. He now wants Golovkin three years later? Charlo who has started to look like dog shhht. Nice to see this playbook still getting a pass. Makabu it is and there is like no buzz at all for this fight either.Comment

Wrong, I don't think Charlo is in any rush to fight Benavidez either, especially after the trouble he had with his last opponent. I also would say that Canelo wasn't that interested in fighting Charlo as well until he witnessed his last performance. Neither wants to fight David and it's pretty obvious why.Comment

So fighting the best doesn’t matter so long as there is a scrub with a title? Got it. This is why we can’t get these young bucks to fight each other but then turn around and complain. Why should they, this guy gets a pass to cash in 30 million bucks fighting a guy who isn’t a first option sparing partner for the guys in his division. Let that sink in, the guy isn’t even in the first list of sparing partners to bring in. He’s that bad….but he has a title and folks can parade around calling Canelo the greatest thing since open scoring and then a cruiserweight champion. Despite fighting the biggest push over title holders he can. I could list ten fights he could book right now that’s a better matchup.Comment

Well said. And the title rationale won’t make sense if he fought charlo or ggg either because canelo isn’t going back down to 160 where they’re champions. If he fights them, it’ll be at 168 where they don’t have any belts.
