Canelo vs a Cruiser champ is actually the sort of sideshow I don’t mind seeing in boxing.
Yes he comes at you with blazing hand speed , huge combinations and dangerous power, which Canelo will have to deal with, so it won't be a case of Canelo just 'lol countering David easily', he will have to deal with serious fire to achieve that vs a fighter who throws twice as many punches on average. Everyone talks about Canelo will catch him but David has proven to be very durable, so you need to consider what if he eats Canelo's punches, just smiles and keeps coming forward? He is a totally different world from powder puffs like Plant, BJS and Smith. Canelo is not ****** he knows this.

David Benavidez has not done anything in the sport to be demanding a Canelo fight this hard. The way they are demanding it, with such disrespect and vigor, you would think Benavidez has fought a bunch of top fighters, champions, has a belt, defended it against top guys.
Instead, this guy won the vacant WBC title twice, and lost it three times all on his own. He should have lost one of those two times, versus no one of note. An unknown boxer, Ronald Gavril, dropped and seemingly beat Benavidez for the vacant WBC title. And Benavidez still had the WBC title handed to him, even while not actually earning it.
I repeat, David Benavidez fought for the vacant WBC title at 168, twice, versus no one of note, and lost it three times, versus no one of note. You can't make this up. And one of those three times was literally vs no one at all.
Let that sink in: Benavidez fought for the vacant WBC 168 title, twice, versus no one of note, and lost it three times.
This guy was actually handed the WBC title to his hands, twice, and lost it three times.
If I sound like a broken record, or beating a dead horse, good. That's the point.
First time: Getting the opportunity to fight for the vacant title vs no one of note, in the first place.
Second time: In that first opportunity to fight for the vacant WBC title, he should have lost that fight, but was still given the title in a bogus SD. Despite failing to secure a legitimate showcase win to get the gifted WBC title, this guy was still given the "win" anyway.
Third time: After seemingly losing the gifted vacant WBC title to Gavril but still somehow taking it home with him, Benavidez lost his title by missing weight vs Roamer Angulo.
It's comedic, amusing, for him to have any fan or media backing at all, for a push to fight Canelo Alvarez.
This guy has been forced to become the 168 WBC champion multiple times, and can't even keep the damn title to save his life. Say what you want about Canelo and how we won his first WBC title, or any fighter in history who got an easy title shot. But Benavidez is just on another level, a level all the way at bottom. Benavidez is a brand new type of prizefighter.
I do not know what more proof one needs to see that David Benavidez was just not meant to be a champion.
He is now being ordered to fight Lemiuex to become the mandatory challenger for the WBC title. Lemiuex has been done for like 5 years now. Once again, Benavidez is being gifted a shot at the WBC title.
