im gonna try & respond to that if u can reason with me; try & go back in boxing history & name me one fighter who looked as bloodgeuned & busted up due to boxing gloves like cotto was against margo, not by a head butt cut, straight up glove punishment. i cant honestly think of one, even vito antofermo didnt looked that bad when he faced marvin hagler many years ago. where i can look is the MMA wher their gloves barely have cushion & is almost as getting hit with bare knuckle. in my 30 years of watching boxing i had never thought that that type of damage could be done in a boxing ring due to glove punishment alone. he looked like he has just got beat up with a bat if i didnt know any better. & what happened in his next fight? where was that same damage once his cast wraps were confiscated? u dont need that much common sense 2 realize that a fighter uses them wraps against a 37 year old underdog who supposedly was on his way out, but doesnt use them against his most dangerous opponent ever where he was an underdog? Cmon now, even a ten year old child can rationalize this; if he tryed to cheat when he was a huge favorite, trust me, he did the same when he was an underdog in the biggest fight of his life. only ignorant fans in denial or haters would think other wise. i personally have alot of mexican friends since i live now in texas & everyone except for maybe one thinks that he did cheat & they even feel that he shamed them & their great mexican tradition; but most importantly is that they feel because of his cheating they feel cotto will never be the same. they say to me imaging if the great julio cesar chavez career would have been cut short because someone didnt want to play by the rules..& u say wheres the proof? buddy, he got caught red handed with the plaster on his hands, not his bag, not getting ready to put them on, on his fist...if a person tells u hes tried crack, trust me hes a crack head & his done it more than once; its common sense: but dont worry, cause that fight will happen one day again so we can finally lay it 2 rest once & for all.

Personally I am not Mexican I am not puertorican. Do you think Marg used "plaster" against Sebastian Lujan? And, like I responded before. They found traces of sulfer and phosphate in his wraps. That does not make plaster. I am not ignorant. I think is ignorant to accuse somebody without proof. I am not a hater. I might be in denial tho lol... But, still I would like proof. I am sorry if I am asking too much. Just by saying look at his face is something fishy there. Is not proof to me. I see Lujan ear coming off. Do you think Marg use "plaster" in that fight?

Hey Boriqua, Let me start off by saying great post! I to have watched this sport for over 30 yrs. and have never witnessed such a beating absorbed by a boxer and in Cotto's case in less than a 6 round time frame. I sat there amongst my many Mexican friends in disbelief that night and after all the flag waving and **** talking was done I was asked WHAT HAPPENED! My response was I cant believe the damage to Cotto's face. Did I miss these damaging blows was it the alcohol, the hoopla? So I watched it again and again couldn't see it. Well we all know whats happened since then. As much as I would like to see the rematch I'm not quite sure it will happen. Theres been a push to seek lifetime bans against both fighter and trainer when caught for altering or adding illegal items to gloves and handwraps. I'm hoping Cotto didn't sustain permanant damage, my guess is he didn't. To all Mexican fight fans out there I've enioyed the rivalry between P.R.and Mexico, some being great fights some not. You will always have your great victories Sanchez over Gomez, Chavez over Chapo and so on but for those clinging to Margarito over Cotto don't. Este pelea no sirve! Theres an asterisk there that can only be taken off or left on by a rematch!!!

J, Let me start off by saying I missed your response to my post on this thread. I I try to always respond but I missed it. I apologize. As far as the truth you seek we both know it can't be obtained. So what do we do? We form opinions and yes your right it is an opinion. My opinion is based on the damage to Cotto's face, evidence found by Mosley's trainer and the opinions of highly reguarded people in the sport of boxing. People need to put all the facts together and form their own. Beleive it or not this is is how the road to truth is initially sarted. Call me a cabezon if you want to but I won't be changing mine and can't expect others to change theirs. Opinions that is!!!

First of all I would like to say I am a Cotto fan. I am not no Cotto hater. And, I can't see how anybody can hate on Cotto. He is a true warrior and he is willing to face anybody. However, I don't know if Margarito cheated against Cotto. There has not been no facts no proof. We all are just assuming that he did. But there is no real hardcore evidence that he did. Everything that has bees said in the matter are opinions. I will take it as a legit win until proof does come in.

Taking it as a legit win is like saying there is proof he didn't cheat. It is is not certain, there's no absolute proof, but in probability terms, it's very likely on any rational assessment. The win can't be deleted from his record because there's no proof and no certainty (and by definition cannot ever be, it's too late to get proof now, unless Marg confesses, which he is very unlikely to do) - but it has a huge asterisk against it.

So Cotto shouldn't be given a complete pass for that loss - and his game plan was all wrong for that fight, which certainly contributed to his defeat - but the very legitimate doubts about the loss's validity should certainly be taken into account when assessing Cotto's career.

To take your extreme position - that it was a legitimate win - is just as bad as taking the opposite extreme position - that plaster was the only reason Cotto lost.

I don't think Iceta was dis*****g that, I think he meant that he thinks Mosley would have been a tougher challenge for Pac. Iceta is a Mosley fan.

I don't mind Pacquiao fighting Cotto, because that is where the money is. Just give that same opportunity to Mosley as long as he holds up his end of the bargain and wins another fight impressively in the near future.

Commercial realities may dictate otherwise, but if he's patient and keeps fighting, his time will come. If he beats Clottey impressively, he'll deserve to fight the winner, but if Mayweather looks good against Marquez, he's more likely to get the first bite of the cherry, because there's a lot more money in that fight. But if Mosley then fights Berto or another top fighter instead of complaining, and wins again, he'd definitely get to fight the winner of Mayweather vs. the Pac-Cotto winner.
