Broner and Guerro may be past their best but they don't get stopped. So straight away Benn gets much needed rounds. Yes I know he's went 10 rounds a couple of times, but for a guy who basically has no amateur experience, then doing the 10 another few times is what he needs. And past it as they are, they still know a trick or 2. Against Algieri he got less rounds than expected, because of improvements made, which brought about the KO. And in these fights he can improve more, as there's still plenty to work on. He's still a work in progress. So I would say yes, the experience box gets ticked also imo.

BIt the most important considerstion for Hearn will be $$$$ and, as you say, there's more to be made from that with a Broner fight.
However any version of porter that we've seen would be too much for Benn.Last edited by tokon; 12-27-2021, 08:03 AM.Comment

The usa is made up of 50 states all with their own separate governments, laws, taxation systems, and even militaries (national guard)…..but you just said “Americans”…..the pot and the kettle and all that….Comment

Yes, great points not, I too feel Avanesyan is somewhat over-rated,vwith a record that flatters to deceive; let's see him in with Ortiz or Ennis!

Yes that's true. And I'm sure they will for Benn also. But I think if Broner gets himself motivated he can still give Benn some learning. Don't get me wrong, I do believe however, that the biggest aspect of a Broner fight is Profile raising and making Benn an attraction.Comment

It's a gentle incline because he had little amateur experience. He's only started to rise in level in the last four or five fights. You mention sink or swim, but is it not better to make sure, that when he enters deep waters he's ready to swim? I'd say so. Plus Broner is a financial no brainer and raises his profile. It makes complete sense at this stage. I don't like the fight either, but it's sensible for all the right reasons.
Plus, it might do him the world of good, anyway. These guys, so far, have been no challenge for the guyComment

Yes I agree, we fans want big fights. But if he's handled correctly then he'll be in plenty big fights. If not then he's beaten before he's ready and the big fight never comes. Let's not forget Cedric Peynaud was fight 11. We're at 20 now and he's come on in leaps and bounds, particularly in his last 4. But there's still some way to go, and the Peynaud experience is still at the back of the mind. If he ever wants to get the type of success his dad had then they need to be careful. And that's another whole pressure right there, as he's constantly compared to Nigel which is unfair at times.Comment

Frank Warren tells Eddie you don't have to pay Avanesyan. I'll pay him to fight Conor Benn. He'll be a free opponent and he can fight on Dazn.
IFL TV on Twitter: "“YOU DO NOT HAVE TO PAY AVANESYAN” ❌ @frankwarren_tv states that he would allow @MatchroomBoxing to stage @ConorNigel v @DavidAvaBoxer, without worrying about the cost of Avanesyan’s purse | https://t.co/0nDxWscd0i | @Umar_iFL | London | #Boxing https://t.co/Y2wIlgs9Uh" / Twitter
