I don't see what he gains from beating these washed up fighters. Even if they think its to early for the likes of Avanesyan there's decent tests at domestic level. Fights against the likes of kongo, essuman, marku and mckinson are better for his development.

They haven't turned it down. They were already in advanced stages of making the Mckinson fight, and asked the WBC to allow them to have that fight first, then the eliminator. And the WBC granted the request.

I would too. Avanesyan is overrated imo. People slag off the Broner fight, but it's 20,000 sell out at the 02 arena. Avanesyan is not.

Disagree with your sentiment. I’m a big fan of what I see from Benn so far. But we should be opposed to these gentle inclines promoters put their fighters on, with commercial self-interest at its root.

The man will sink or swim with a serious contender, and I believe he’s good enough to swim with the best of them. If I’m proved wrong, then fine, he gets a loss. But whatever, losing isn’t the end of the world. He can come back, and some of the best have had losses.

It's a gentle incline because he had little amateur experience. He's only started to rise in level in the last four or five fights. You mention sink or swim, but is it not better to make sure, that when he enters deep waters he's ready to swim? I'd say so. Plus Broner is a financial no brainer and raises his profile. It makes complete sense at this stage. I don't like the fight either, but it's sensible for all the right reasons.
