If David Benavidez really wants to fight Canelo, He should move up and grab a LHW title instead of facing Angulo at a catchweight of 171lbs or former 154lber Kyrone at a catchweight of 169lbs

David Benavidez started the first 3 yrs of his career at Light Heavyweight.
https://boxrec.com/en/proboxer/672259
Now, he can barely make the SMW limit fighting 2 times at a catchweight in his last 3 fights (171lbs, 169lbs and 169lbs)
If he really wants to fight Canelo, he should fight Beterbiev, Bivol and Smith Jr. And try to grab a lhw title.
Canelo’s going to move down to 175 anyway to fight one of Beterbiev/Bivol/Smith Jr after Makabu. David needs to get a LHW belt to force a Canelo fight instead of fighting the Lemieux’s of the world. Thoughts?Comment

Canelo Is fighting champions from multiple divisions throughout his entire career,& is going to be fighting another 1 next,& all crybabies can whine about is that hes not fighting some no name bumslayer who has nothing to offer or bring to the table.
Benevidez has looked like crap fighting jmws he dragged up for catchweights,& you complain about tiny Canelo cleaning out smw then going straight up to CW to get another belt. Thats hatingComment

Its very debatable if DB is in his prime,& the only reason you're not seeing many early 20s on his resume is because rarely are fighters that age considered elite champions or stars,& thats who Canelo fights.Comment

David is in his mid 20s and a killer. Go tell me the last time Canelo fought a prime killer. You won't. Never happened. Closest was a 35 year old GGG.Comment

Their shouldn't be any reason why he dont take on these young hungry guys in their prime instead of picking weak ex-champions or a crap division to find his opponent.Comment
