Comments Thread For: WBC Boss Attempts to Clarify Franchise Designation; Says Kambosos Should Be Regarded As 'Undisputed'

Mauricio Sulaiman is no stranger to unpopular concepts. The head of the World Boxing Council sanctioning body recently tried - for the nth time - to explain the rationale behind the franchise champion concept he introduced in 2018.

Sulaiman is the boxing equivalent of a tumour. The guy would gift his mother a necklace and charge her a sanctioning fee.

Let me clarify if for you, old bean: it’s a means of keeping the WBC in touch with the world’s most marketable fighters in each division while exploiting extraneous revenue opportunities with slightly lower profile boxers who would kill for a championship belt, to the extent that they’ll take a paper title

The WBA has had super and regular world champions for over 20 years now. The WBC is doing the same thing.

Kambosos is THE LINEAL AND TRUE LIGHTWEIGHT CHAMPION OF THE WORLD.
It's about time, fans and media ignore these "sanctioning" gangsters and recognise the true champion in each division. Then boxing might get some of the credibility that these scumbags have stolen back. TBRB

This is the most sensible quote I’ve seen all day. It’s up to the fans to quit bickering and put an end to this nonsense. Ignore the bridgerweight and franchise titles and this cancerous guy might finally go away.

The WBA has multiple world champions in 11 out of 17 weight classes. The WBC has multiple world champions in 1 out of 18 weight classes. Why are you so much more upset about 1 out of 18 than 11 out of 17?
