Jaron Ennis looks great but there is a reason he didn't make the Olympics team

I bet you that Crawford and Spence would square off against each other before ever coming anywhere near Boots.
He just has a horrible resumé. Almost 30 fights and not one live body and Russell was his best opponent 6,7 yrs ago. He might be all that and more but I can't bet on him vs proven commodity fighters. Terrence was an Olympian and he fought Olympic gold medalists and knocked them out. Ennis couldn't even get past by Russell and his opposition since Gary has gotten worse.

Boots looks the part but hasn't remotely proved to be more than just a great prospect, atleast not yet. While he isn't as flashy,I think Vergil will be the future at 147. Roberto's matchmaking vor Vergil has been great for him and will have benefitted him more than the likes of undersized opponents like Lipinets and Dulorme when it comes to fighting the elite at 147.

I get that. It's horrible because no one wants to fight him. Now his hour has come. He is currently ranked in the top two in at least three of the major sanctioning bodies at welterweight. So only time will reveal if this kid is the goods or not. Back then he was very green but now he is riped for the pickings. Then we will see who is bold enough to step up to the challenge and fight him.

Gary Antuanne Russell is a good young fighter himself but he just doesn't fight enough to get the same pub these other youngsters get. No shame in losing to him. Russell had a grown man body as a 18 year old while it took longer Ennis time to develop his.

Ennis also is as dedicated as a fighter as you will see. He pretty much lives in the gym lol.

Crawford lost to Sadam Ali in the qualifiers. What does that mean? Heck, Floyd lost in the qualifiers and had to battle back to qualify. This isn't the end all, be all.

The thing when looking at some fighters amateur careers is that it is similar to looking at a very successful person's high school grades.Typically they had stellar grades but there are some B students that continue to grow and don't plateau which some A students do due to being so successful early on.

So while he may not have faced much top opposition yet in the pro ranks I am sure those defeats in the amateurs fuel him in some way.

It is a big part of why I believe truly great fighters are the ones that continue to find ways to improve.

Terrance Crawford got his ass whooped by Ugas in the amateurs.

But who did Crawford fight in the pros? Better fighters than Sadam Ali
Same with Floyd. Jaron Enis got 30 fight and not one live body, not one.

Look at Crawford and Ugas resumes in their first 30 fights. Then look at Ennis. Ennis looks like the biggest shark in the local YMCA pool. I love his skills, I love his style, he's a great guy. Got nothing bad to say except that he's very, very unproven. I've never seen a worse resume on somebody that highly touted.

Ennis is only 24 years old and is rated top 10 at welterweight. If you're questioning his resume based off people prematurely hyping him, then that's fair. If you're doing it as an indictment to him, then that's unfair. Do you think the top guys would voluntarily fight him? Even Porter straight up said he'd never fight him.
