I’ve always liked King Kong. Fast-handed and a smart operator — has to be, because he has all the mobility of an oil platform. Arguably he outboxed Wilder better than Fury, but failed because he doesn’t have the Gypsy King’s supernatural punch resistance (who does?). His career was managed terribly and now, with a backstory that involves costly medical treatment for his child, he’s boxing at a time when he should be fishing.
But buy a PPV against Martin? GTFO. Haymon cards like this one and Thurman’s are looking like a going out of business sale at the dollar store.

He looked good against Washington & came on against Kownacki in the second half but ran out of rounds. This is a huge fight for both. If Ortiz loses it is the end. Martin can still get fights but a loss would probably end his aspirations of winning a second world title. Still an intriguing fight. Tough fight to pick but I would have chosen Ortiz a few years ago but at 42 it is hard for me to look past his age & lack of quality opposition in recent years. Martin is better than many here think & should be the fresher fighter. I think Martin could pull this out. I have it 50/50 at this stage of their careers…

Originally posted by SN!PER View PostHonestly, at this point, this isn't really a hard fight for Martin.
Remember, he's been training with Manny Robles for a couple years now.
When's the last time Ortiz fought a southpaw? Tony Thompson about 5 years ago?
The way I see it, Martin just needs to keep the jab in his face and keep moving until Ortiz gasses out.
It’s a 50/50 fight on paper but I think Ortiz is going to catch him earlier and gets 4/5 round stoppage ,I hope the fight goes easy for Martin but Ortiz is going to fight back and I’m not confident in Martins abilities to take it to him when the time comes and it will .Last edited by REDEEMER; 12-26-2021, 03:23 PM.

Beat Ortiz and he at least proves he belongs as a contender and not there by default because of an injury
