Was Canelo really a "kid" when he faced Floyd?

At their primes, P4P, and style for style Floyd would still outpoint today's Canelo. IMO.

IMO, sure Saul had some fight experience but was it enough to say he actually "earned" a shot against Floyd. It got made bc of the Floyd Oscar rivalry.

The main argument is really the catchweight. No difference infight outcome imo, but still a point to argue about. Lol

I wouldn't say "kid' but I would say GREEN. He had a bunch of fights against stiffs and tomato cans. He had zero experience to fight an actual HIGH level boxer. That's right, I'm not calling Fraud Jr. something out of the ordinary, I'm calling him HIGH level. I think even if Canelo fought Cotto at this point, Cotto would of boxed his brains out. It takes experience and Canelo just didn't have it with high level boxers at that time.

Fraud needed a dance partner once again to bring the green and Canelo was that guy. Always looking for that dance partner, because on his own, he won't make a penny.

Green Drainelo would lose to Lara/Cotto/GGG.

I would favor Pacquaio vs. 152 Drainelo.

It was a schooling but with the added weight and re-hydration clause the win doesn't look that great as Floyd stans want it to be, couldn't even beat the guy at 154 when he fought Cotto there.

You can’t twist the facts and wish Floyd had taken out a prime Canelo at 31.

I really don’t rate fights like this when one opponent is super young, or catchweight fights.

It’s just not as impressive. I can’t lie and say I’m impressed by Pacs win over Cotto at 145 or his win over Margarito at 150. Or Floyd’s win over Canelo at 152.

Image how everyone would feel if Floyd was 23 and fought a 36 year old Canelo? People wouldn’t want to accept it either.
You mean like how 21 yr old Floyd stopped HOF 32 yr old Genaro Hernadez, a young great is supposed to be an old great,,,,, unless of course the old great is better.

            - - Canelo was dangerous enough that l'l Floydy put in a catchwt knowing the kid was growing out of 154 along with a 165 rehydration limit when the Canelo had been mid 170s come fightnight, a double catchwt.

Timeline shows Kid Canelo age 23 was considerably more advanced in his competition than was 23 yr old l'l Floydy who needed Bayless riding the kid's back in the early going to keep the kid frustrated while l'l Floydy racked up his usual popcorn points. The fact that a judge had the temerity to score a poorly fought match a draw well within the parameters of the 116-112 scorecard cause such a public upheaval was the usual suspects betting on a guaranteed boring UD got burned and lost their wads.

              .

canelo said Mayweather tried to include a "rehydration clause" in the fight contract, where Canelo would be unable to weigh above a certain number on the day of the fight. Canelo, who rehydrates to more than 170-pounds on the day of the fight, rejected that clause.

"They came up with a second-day weigh-in. They wanted to do a second-day weigh-in and limit what I could weigh the second day, and I wouldn't agree to that

Keep the fantasy excuses coming. Canelo was 15 lbs heavier than Floyd on Fight night. The catch weight was only 1.5 lbs lower than his previous fight. The fight was not even close, yet Canelo is a so called ATG? lol.

Not a fan of triangle theories, but Trout beat up Cotto prior to Canelo and Canelo beat up Trout. If it wasn't then, then when should Floyd have fought Canelo? They were #1 and #2 in the division.

I always laugh when Floyd fans bring up this dude as if he was some awesome boxer. It was an ok win, quit acting like he beat Sugar Ray Leonard.

I saw a few of his matches live when I was younger. Chicanito is aight man, but Floyd fans have over used this card lol
