  • Was Canelo really a "kid" when he faced Floyd?

Is someone 23 and with a 41-0 record a kid? When Tyson and Ali were 23 nobody called them kids and Canelo was fighting pro at a younger age than they did.

No he wasn't, but he also wasn't what he is now.

So what's the question we're really asking?

He wasnt a kid, but he wasnt at his best yet either.

People nowadays refer to young adults as ‘kid’ later and later in life. Studies about brain development have caused this en loco parentis to extend well into adulthood.

You stop being a kid by 18, and definitely by 20. 23 is not a kid

He was a guy who started his career at a young age, had a couple wins over washed up veterans and a win over Austin Trout up to that point.

Floyd was OLDER Vs. Canelo than Alvarez is today.

All the guys close to him in camp guy tattoo's of the date on their arms. Fkin morons. Everyone was acting like he was going to beat Floyd. That was CJ Ross' last fight she ever judged. God she was horrible.

                  He was 42-0-1, actually.

And had fought Austin Trout (who was coming in off a dominant win over Miguel Cotto) as well as Shane Mosley.

He was a kid in chronological years but pretty experienced in boxing years.

No he would have beat the likes of Cotto at the time, he just wasn't prime. But if he wasn't such a good learner that could have been his plateau.

Canelo one of the few guys in the sport who continue to get better every fight.
