I don't know why black people don't support their own more with Jermall Charlo and Demetrius Andrade. But that is not Canelo's fault nor is it his responsibility to throw them some scraps.

Tell ya boy to fight Andrade, throw em a bone, like Money did to him.

Canelo beat Austin Trout in front of 40,000 fans in the Alamodome before fighting Floyd.

      What has Andrade done?

Andrade can vacate his WBO 160 and enforce a mandatory. Will he do that?

          I can live with that.

Just make sure to apply those strict standards to other fighters.
It's a cherrypick precisely because of how you and others phrase that fight.

It's not going up to 200 pounds to fight the top guy at CW.

It's going up to a newly installed 190 pound weight, apparently draining a guy who is used to fighting at 200, and fighting a guy who reportedly isn't that good.

If the fight is at 200, I wouldn't really have a problem with it, at all. Even if the rep for Makubu getting beat up in sparring is true, it is still a 30 pound jump in weight, to face a top 5 or so guy at CW. Even if he was number 10 at CW, I'd say it was a good fight at that weight to get your feet wet.

But selling it at a 'champion at CW' when he doesn't appear to be that good, and also is going to be drained. I mean how can you not call that a cherrypick. He's picking off a belt vs a drained guy who may not be that good anyway.

It's worse than RJJ vs Ruz really. The gold standard of a cherrypick.

Trout and Lara aren't that high risk - they weren't going to KO him, and he had no real chance of losing on the cards in those fights.

I had him beating Lara but the point is those fights are easier for Canelo to take, because he is 95% likely to win the fight. They have 1% chance of KOing him. And 19/20 if it goes 12, Canelo will get the nod.

Eh, I'll give you Trout, but he was still getting paid well against Lara. Canelo hasn't had a low reward fight in years. He gets paid no matter who he fights. That can't be said about the majority of fighters. But him being where he is now because he's taking hard fights isn't necessarily true. He's had a fanbase from the very beginning, which has helped him overcome that "low reward" that other boxers have to deal with for years. He's been very fortunate he's been a PPV attraction, even if it's not always been because of his boxing.

Canelo squeaked by Trout..lost to May..and never fought an athletic African American boxer again..Floyd is one of my favorites, but he tried not to fight southpaws.. the fact is, there are quality opps at 154(blow em up to 168!), 160, and 175..no one ever thought that anyone at 168 could beat schmanelo..He could kick someone's ass bigger than makumbamattata..if they are not not as skilled as him..there are actual levels to boxing..I read on this thread someone state something about makumbamattata being a solid win for any cruiserweight rn..and that is true? But why? Because WE ALL KNOW THE LEVEL AT THAT WEIGHT IS C LEVEL NOW THAT USYK IS GONE!!!So amongst themselves he is a solid win, only because he holds a trinket..Would you have considered Usyk beating Makumbamattata a big deal? Probably not..because Usyk is no bum a d is an absolute no question A level fighter, and guess what? So is Canelo..he can kick makumbamattata 10 out of 10 times and he will do it easily.. Let's see him do it against.....well you know my schtick already

I love it how canelo fan boys are trying to spin that dropping the CW to 190 is no big deal because 'it used to originally be 190' 17 years ago. Pure gold lol!

You said that Floyd threw Canelo a bone so Canelo should now throw Andrade a bone.

But that's not the case, Canelo proved his drawing power in the fight before Floyd and made himself an attractive opponent.

                    Andrade should do the same.

                      Trout had just schooled Cotto.

Nobody was looking to fight Erislandy Lara at that time. Just ask Team Golovkin:
