Speed wont be that much of a problem fo Cotto

he has beaten faster guys than pacquiao; judah/mosley

IMO he takes pacquiaos speed away, beats him to the body, and then breaks him down.

i dont like cotto and i hope pacquiao wins but i just cant see cotto losing to a flyweight, being honest i think he beats down manny to reality.

If Cotto can stand his ground or move forward for 12 rounds that would auger well for him. If Pacman can force him to go backward Cotto will eventually get beat up.

Cotto is a good boxer when he is standing still or moving forward so he shoul be able to do something about Pacman's speed advantage because he does have good timing and nice short punches (if he can keep from backing up).

To me the fight boils down to that.

IMO speed is not the problem for Cotto. It's his own mentality. Watching his fights against Judah and Mosley I Cotto being indecisive about what punches he was gonna throw and how he was going to react to his opponent's actions. He gutted it out and exploited both Mosley and Cotto's weaknesses but when Judah and Mosley were both at their comfort zones Cotto looked like a wreck mentally. Being indecisive against Pacquiao will mean Pac will be able to see Cotto's punches coming, react accordingly and exploit his speed advantage to its fullest.

Although I do think that Cotto is going to win (because of size, power, timing) there still is the posibility that Pac does like Margs did and comes prepared to not take any body shots which will help take away Cotto's signature body work.

You say that Judah and Mosley are faster than Pac. I respectfully disagree. I believe they hit harder but Pacs speed is just incredible.
If Miguel adjusts to Pacs speed, is able to land those devastating body punches and times Pac perfectly like he does with most of his opponents then yeah, I see Cotto winning if not then Pac is walking away with the W.

cotto's weakness is uppercuts and pacquiao does not throw uppercuts, margarito throws a lot of them with a workrate of 1100+ punches per fight and margarito is much bigger than pacquiao.

cotto could not land that much to margaritos body because he was getting tagged by uppercuts as he was coming forward, he probably saw tapes of judah fight, but judah and margarito are fighters who throw uppercuts, i havent seen pacquiao throw one that would bother cotto.

The upper cut thing is definetly a positive for Cotto because he is a sucker for upper cuts no doubt. I think Pacquiao is a sucker for straight right hands which is an ok punch for Cotto but I don't know if he can win teh fight based off that punch.

True, i think pacquiao wont hurt cotto though, because he has taken punches from mosley, judah, margarito and clottey. compared to those 4 pacquiao doesnt hit that hard, its just the speed, but IMO mosley and judah have quicker handspeed. Its only about how often can cotto land his punches and cut off the ring.

this is one of those fights where i can think timing will beat speed...marquez beat pacquiao with timing, but cotto is a body puncher and a counterpuncher who uses combinations like marquez, except he is bigger and stronger.

here we go again with the comparisons.. Judah and mosley have fast hands like pac but that's about the only similiraty those 2 have to pac.. Pac has better foot speed, better body and head movement, furious pace, and better workrate.

One thing I never understood about Judah, Corely, and to a lesser extent Quintana is why they all stood right in front of Cotto after they threw their punches. They hardly moved around and were just asking to be beat down more than they should've.

Also, Judah and Corely were misguided trying to win their fights against Cotto with ONLY uppercuts or one type of punch. They hardly used any combinations and tried to be fancy with shoulder rolls leaving their bodies wide open for Cotto to chop down. Most importantly Judah and Corely, and sometimes Quintana(after throwing his left) would leave their right hands down?!?! THAT was absurd.
