Brook was a brilliant fighter, before GGG.

That’s not the whole story though. He got stabbed right after beating Porter, then when he returned, the IBF kept giving him awful mandatories. I think by that point he was just desperate for another big fight, so took the GGG one.

Arguably the bigger mistake was coming back down two divisions to fight Spence. He struggled at 147 anyway, never mind coming down 2 divisions straight from a beating from Golovkin.

I still believe that pre-GGG Brook would’ve beaten Spence.

come on, wrong way round, he was protected as shyt. Has one decent title worthy opponent that he handled well, which proves hes decent enough.

but nothing else, just a stack of nobodies except the losses.

I'm not sure how much Hearn is to blame vs. his own ****** choices, whether it's getting into bar fights or even suggesting fighting Golovkin

Both he and Khan hated each other so much that they were willing to compete to see who would get KO'd better in 2016. Khan got iced by Canelo and Brook said, "Hold my beer! I'll get beat at Middleweight as well...but in better fashion!" (if that makes any sense).

Both were paid handsomely for their losses but it pretty much closed the curtains on their careers.

I agree though! Whoever handles his career did a hack-job on his career for sure! He should've stayed in the US to defend the IBF title that he won from Porter but he ran back to England and took up a rather mediocre path as one somebody already mentioned.

Again, he's a gifted fighter with horrible management, unfortunately.

You could argue it all went down hill after beating porter. The dude fought nothing but bums and getting stabbed definitely didn't help. Then the whole ggg fight and so on. But I remember they tried to fight Rios after his first bum but for some reason couldn't get it done so idk who to blame there. So if they couldn't get Rios how were they gonna get anybody else?

I remember the fight falling through as Rios wanted too much money (1.75m I think?). End of the day it wasn’t down to Brook ducking anyone, he just couldn’t get another big fight and took the GGG fight out of desperation.

If he’d just bided his time, he’d have gotten some bigger fights eventually, and would have had far more chance of beating Spence. It wasn’t like the fight wasn’t fairly close until the stoppage anyway, pre 147-160-147 Brook would have been far harder for Spence to handle.

Brook is lacking between the ears, his team are yes men and he's wasted most of his career being obsessed with Khan.

If Khan beats him he will spiral into a deep depression.

Yeah I agree. Brook was just eager for a big fight. I also agree he woulda gave Spencer a tougher fight. Likely beat him.

I mean let's please not start acting like the Crawford win was over even a half decent version of Brook.

He's been finished for a few years now, Crawford did what needed to be done but Brook wasn't going to give anyone with a pulse any real issues that night was he.
