ehhh the first 4 rounds against a prime, smaller Gamboa, he was getting outclassed

he hasnt really fought somebody that good

porter is good but he lost against Kell brook

Crawford used Kells brook gameplan, all you gotta do is step back against porter and counter

Sorry are you aware Crawford won the fight by stoppage? how was he exposed? personally i thought his stock went up tonight. He was humble in stating Canelo has the mantle so why are you so mad? oh period? .... got it ..... you take it easy baby girl, no morefor at least 4 days

Their skill levels are similar. Crawford has the better win on his resume now. Canelo just has the better overall resume. Not sure why this is suddenly a thing. Two different fighters in two different weight classes. No need for a comparison.

let me know when he gives up that much in size or experience like canelo did at 22 with Mayweather or he's doing now at 160- cruiserweight

Whens the last time you see Canelo get wobbled and dropped by bums? When’s the last times Canelo showed issues in fighting? When’s the last time Canelo was getting whooped by a b level part time fighter? Crawford’s defense sucks that’s why he’s always gettin his head snapped back and hurt he pulls straight back. Canelo is level above Crawford skill wise too.
You better pray to the Gods to make sure the african bum doesn't KO canelo.

That's a cop out.... Cuz Canelo was being outboxed by other fighters.

Cuda sworn Amir Khan was outpointing Canelo till he got stopped

Honestly better is largely a subjective term as is P4P. But honestly I rate Crawford higher P4P, always have. And styles make fights, all great fighters can and likely have looked bad in spots against B level fighters - even Mayweather Jr. But even still, in Porter's case, none of the elite fighters have ever shown wide separation from him, not Spence, prime Brook or Thurman - he's just one of those guys that always makes elite fighters look bad. Crawford didn't look great but in the end but time shows his game plan worked very well and he did what none of the other elite fighters could, that has to count for something too.

Canelo's defense has generally looked better but it also wasn't as great when he stepped up in comp too - GGG, who wasn't even that fast at the age Canelo fought him, tagged him with the jab all night long in the first fight, I don't remember the Lara fight too much now but I had Lara winning. And other than that who has Canelo really fought that has shown they can still hang at the elite level when he fought them and for which Canelo did not have a weight advantage over where he's shown such great defense? Derevychenko would have been a great fight to measure - essentially a middleweight Porter - but of course Canelo didn't fight him. If I'm not mistaken, the only mandatory Canelo's ever fought was a guy who really shouldn't have even been sanctioned to fight him.

Like it or not, as good as Canelo looks, you have to weigh that against the fact that he hand picks most of his opponents as there's essentially no one that will say no to him nor does he need to fight certain contenders to make a name for himself anymore. Of course he will look magical if he's choosing who gets to test him. And you also have to weigh how someone looks when they're just fighting mandatories, any guy with a belt (in every division they go to, not cherry picking which division they become undisputed in) and fighting the guys the public wants to see. And now Canelo is handpicking Makaba or whatever his name is, I'm willing to guess he will have great defense in the test in picked for himself again. Just imagine if he never lost to Mayweather or fought Lara, we'd probably be saying how easily Canelo would dominate them.

A trademark of a great fighter is making opponents fight outside their comfort zone and no current fighter does that more than Canelo with his opponents being reluctant to fully commit to their punches including bigger KO punchers who've never shied away from trading. Canelo is a frustrating guy to be up against because his upper body movement makes it difficult to time clean with power + he's a swift, accurate and powerful counterpuncher. You're likely to come up swinging if you sit down on your shots and eat a hard counter for your troubles, but even if you land a good shot he happens to have an iron chin and is liable to shoot back with something harder of his own. It causes opponents to become discouraged and they often elect to limit themselves to treading water with arm punches as he's landing the harder and cleaner shots. In the past, he was more of a backfoot counterpuncher which gave opponents more breathing room but now he's constantly pressing forward looking for opening and setting up traps. A fighter would get taken apart if he tried leaping into shots the way Porter does yet he was fighting Crawford on pretty much even terms for most of the fight.
