Fair dues. Still, if you're not having Rusedski, you can't have Lewis lol

He repped Britain so it is what it is but really he's a Jamaican just like Razor Ruddock, Ben Johnson, Mike MCCallum, Lloyd Honeyghan, Donovan Bailey and the magical John Barnes.

Rusedski The tennis player? Lol sure he can be Canadian. I had to google who he was lol.

and sorry, being born in Jamaica, growing up in Canada, being educated in Canada, and learning to box in Canada, he’s Canadian. Just like Jean Pascal, Adonis Stevenson and Bermane Stevenson are more Canadian than they are Haitian.

Yeah, the tennis player. Back in the day Canadians used to cry over Lewis but didn't care for Greg because he wasn't very good lol.

I take your point about coming up through the Canadian system but he didn't leave England as an infant and ultimately that's who he chose to represent.

He represented England because that’s where the money was. That’s where his promoters were. He represented Canada in the unpaid ranks, which means a lot more IMO.

there’s no investment for pro boxing in Canada outside of Montreal, and was even less back then. And I don’t blame anyone for choosing England over Quebec. Who wants to learn another language?

Thanks for the info. Out of curiosity, wouldn't an Olympic gold medal have put him over in Canada? Especially given he beat an American in the final?

I'm thinking about how Johnson was a hero over there until he got busted.

He was over as hell with fans. A lot of his early pro fights were here. But there was no investment, and at the time the Canadian dollar was sixty cents American. Canada lost 2 pro hockey teams FFS. If they couldn’t turn a profit on hockey…
