So is this really what's happening? He wants to fight this guy in the beginning of January? Ssaaaaaaay whhhhhaaaaat?! I don't know what's happening here. January 8th? Is this the date Canelo is going to put on about 32 pounds? In a month and a half? He's going to roid up to 200 pounds in a month and a half?

If Canelo goes up to cruiserweight and fights in early January, then I just don't know how this is going to not raise the eyebrows of the world. Someone tell me that I misread that article ....

Benevidez is basically a weight bully who should be fighting at light heavyweight. He is at least 6'2" on a big frame squeezing down to 168 to fight smaller guys. Contrast that with 5'7" Canelo who is fighting way bigger guys. Anway, Benevidez is there to be hit. For Canelo, he presents less of a challenge than the challenged Caleb Plant. Pardon the pun! Incidentally, opinions are not facts, even if they are followed by 7 exclamation marks. They remain simply opinions.

I don't see it as ducking Charlo, but this is a cherry pick most def. The current landscape has too many belts; and with the intermediate weight classes, it's far easier to claim oneself as a "multi-divisional champion". e.g. Pacquiao.

I wish the press would stop calling these cherry pickers "champions" until they get all belts in a division. Otherwise, they are strictly WBC/WBA/IBF/WBO/ABC/LSD/THC belt-holders.

Why not go after a stiff challenge at LHW like Beterbiev?
